QUEENS Park Rangers face our second away match in four days as we head to south east
London to play Millwall in a Friday night London derby.

The reverse fixture at Loftus Road was one of the games of the season. Millwall raced into a 2-0 lead before a superb Rangers comeback made it 2-2. The R’s threw everything at the visitors, who had gone down to ten men, but both teams had to settle for a point.

Millwall came into that match having only won one of their opening eight games but their form has improved since then, picking up a further five wins and the Lions are unbeaten in their last four home league fixtures. They held league leaders Wolves to a 2-2 draw on Boxing Day.

The Lions success this season has been based around a solid defence with only seven teams, who are all in the top ten, conceding less goals than Millwall. However, they have, like Rangers, somewhat struggled at the other end of the field scoring just 26 goals with only five teams finding the net fewer times.

Neil Harris’ side are yet to record a victory away from the Den but their home form has been impressive, picking up 21 of their 27 points. They have beaten both Leeds and Sheffield United (who are both in the top six) on home soil.

Millwall are known for their direct style of play with the experienced Steve Morison and excellent finisher Lee Gregory a difficult partnership for any side to deal with. They do also have some clever ball playing midfielders in the form of Jed Wallace and Aiden O’Brien whilst George Saville in midfield is their surprise top goal-scorer with seven strikes to his name.

The R’s away record has improved recently. Ollie’s side picked up the first win on the road a couple of weeks’ ago against Birmingham City and backed that up with a well earned point at Portman Road on Tuesday - a game where we recorded our first away clean sheet of the season.

But it’s a victory that Ian Holloway will be looking for as he faces his old team - a result that will guarantee that the R’s finish the calendar year above our opponents.

    Last Time Out
QPR rallied from two goals down to claim a point in a pulsating game under the lights at Loftus Road. A wonder strike from Conor McLaughlin and an accurate drive from Jed Wallace put the Lions ahead. But Massimo Luongo halved the deficit in the 73rd minute before Matt Smith’s late equaliser. Rangers almost won it when Luke Freeman hit the crossbar with a free-kick in the 95th minute.

    Stats
    • Millwall have only been losing at half time in one of their home league games this season
    • QPR are one point ahead of where they were at this stage last season
    • Four out of the last five games between the two teams have been draws
    Manager Viewpoints
Ian Holloway: “It’s a fantastic challenge for us and what the players need to do is not be
distracted, focus on the game and nothing else. Millwall have got a very good team and, funnily enough, I’m very pleased for them - but I want to go there and win!”

Neil Harris: “We look forward to the game, it’s a London Derby between two teams neck and neck in the division. It’s not just bragging rights but we want to ensure that we remain above QPR in the division.”

    Team News
QPR: Josh Scowen serves a one-game ban following his red card at Ipswich on Boxing Day, while James Perch and Joel Lynch remain out.

Millwall: Millwall will make late decisions on full-back Conor Mclaughlin and forward Tom Elliott after both suffered knocks against Wolves on Boxing Day.

I know it's a London Derby, we've sold out, which is superb in my view. Not playing well and not one of life's best experiences, visiting the 'Wall. Well done lads and lasses<applause>

Thought I would go to this one on the off chance and got a ticket this morning. Never been to the Den, so it will be a new tick on my list of grounds visited.
Last time I went to an away match on a spur of the moment decision was MK Dons two seasons ago, we were useless and lost 2-0 and I got a cold.
Last time I went to any away match it was the debacle at Forest in November and I got a cold
    What can possibly go right

Ollie hasn't helped having a dig at his old club and Harris in particular, I think he'll get a pretty hot reception tonight. Never a pleasent place to visit at the best of times, I'd take a point now...

Nines, a great write up as always.

As for the team, I would not be surprised if we play the same tactics and formation as against Ipswich on Boxing Day.

I think you are correct that Hall will replace Scowen, which for me could be the only change.

As for Borysiuk, he might as well pack and go home for the new year and not come back. Because, if he does not play for us today, he probably never again will. :)

Can't see Hall playing Scowens role now myself. Don't think he's quick enough. Borysiuk doesn't seem to get in the squad or even a game with the development team, so it would be another surprise to see him. I think Luongo may play the more defensive role in front of the back 3, and Cousins continue further forward with Freeman. Guess Chair or Manning are other alternatives alongside Freeman.

It is logical and I am sure Ollie will surprise us. Not long to wait for the real team.

Oslo, I wish you a great and uninterrupted stream and an enjoyable match. :)

    I'd prefer this.
Hall didn't look at all match fit when he came on against Bristol.

Compared to the Ipswich match we have:
    Hall for Scowen
    Samuel for Robinson

    Robinson is apparently ill.
