Am I alone in being the only one to hear for the first time this week about this ‘top flight goals in a calendar year’ record?

Anyone would think some of the media had constructed it to justify kneeling In front of Kane....

Don’t get me wrong he’s a top striker but on the basis of their analysis he’s better than Messi....

What next... the ‘total goals in a 13 month window’ trophy.... and so on and so forth...

Yeh 'tis abit weird, calendar year seems to exist purely for the sake of winning an argument through stats.

A team could kill it back end and start of a season but finish 11th both years, like an inverted Wigan. Seems fairly meaningless.

Season to season not year to year in this game.

I dunno full year stats are good sometimes, like proving Alan Pardew had the worst record of all 92 league clubs in 2015...

Wonder if he would have got the record if he’d been sent off for the tackle on Lejeurne?

Well he only scored 2 goals in the 3 games after that match, and he's beaten the record by 3 goals, so yes he would have got the record if he'd been sent off.

But his absence may have hit his match fitness levels meaning less goals...

I hate some of the stats around tbh! But he’s a bloody good old fashioned hard working striker who is quite similar to shearer in some aspects of his play. He just does the simple stuff really good. He is a natural finisher. He passes and he moves.

Right now he's better than Shearer was, Kane can't stop scoring, but his link up play and assists are brilliant too, Shearer was always just an out and out goal scorer.

You're doing Shearer dis-service there. He could have been a winger with the quality of his crossing and he put plenty of balls in when he drifted wide.

Not true. Shearer before his “big” injury was the perfect old fashioned centre forward. He linked, he ran the channels, he headed goals, he scored long range and tap ins and he had pace.

Kane is very good but so was Cisse for a period. Will wait just a bit longer before acclaiming him a “great”. Probably why i would never make it in the Media.

Even afterwards, the amount of times I'd see him back heading out when we were defending a corner. All round talent and determination. The only reason he stopped drifting wide was because Robson told him to stay central anyway.
There was alot of times he single-handedly dug us out of holes.
Will Kane be able to keep that up when he loses what little pace he has? Debatable.
Take nothing away from him though, class player to watch.

Two years ago, my mate said Kane would be a one-season wonder <laugh> Kane will be off soon, he would be perfect for Real Madrid.

Bollocks, PL stats Shearer had 64 assists along with his 260 goals, Kane has so far managed 13 assists, got a way to go to match Shearer.

I always thought Kane was bang average but the media are lapping him up at the minute and he is loving it. Can't knock him when he is scoring I guess either. Apparently he is better than Shearer and Messi. Is he sh*** IMO :emoticon-0183-swear

The same media fawned over Michael Owen and Jack Wilshire for years too. They all need a poster boy I guess.

    Surely that's a rhetorical question?
