Quick question......Did we not preform better when Cortese was around? Not interested in the reasons he’s not here anymore. Is Les Reed performing as we all hoped or surpassing? Is he not accountable for the errors he’s made? Sorry that’s more than one question, but managers get fired all the time but infact it’s more like the people above who’s failing.
Indeed. But we don’t know the financial limitations placed on reed. With the takeover going on we don’t know if he was forced to take a vagrant off the street as manager (MP2). Given money I can’t imagine the director who bought mane, wanyama, Virgil etc choosing MP as his no 1 pick for manager. I can’t imagine him losing pelle and mane and actually thinking “aha Redmond and Austin “.
Reed has been at the club since 2010 looking after football affairs and of course he is accountable. He is not the owner of the club and if the club continues to under perform then I’m sure he will suffer the consequences Cortese was just a better self publicist
Nah Cortese was more ruthless delegated to people he actually held accountable, unlike Les. It was what we needed then and we need it now,
Very good point . I expect we will find out now . Does the new owner want relegation ? Or is he being fed bullshit ?
A highest league finish in 30 years 2 years after he left would suggest not, though some would argue that momentum carried us through.
With the squad he had , yes . I also think the fact he massaged the players ego's , made them want to perform . Not saying it was right , but he seemed to fit .
Ok cool,I’d take him back in a heartbeat because for me Les Reed is only taking us the other way. Personally I’m not interested if Cortese upset a few on the way, fact is he wanted results, and let’s face it a few have got very comfortable and very complacent.
Fair enough, he had a charm to him, he saved our club and drove it forward and I’m eternally grateful to him. But whilst Kat remains a part of the club, then there is no chance of a return. Reed was here to oversee the rise which we’re falling back from and deserves the opportunity to turn it around. IMO it won’t take a great deal to get things stabilized. Appoint the right man and a couple of new signings to freshen things up
He also had all of our players on short term contracts and would have allowed them to go in the Summer of 2014 by the sounds of it. He was good, but had just as many pitfalls.
There are more directors of football then just Reed and Cortese.. Cortese more then upset way more then a few and was taking loans out.
Just playing devil's advocate here, but couldn't that have been down to the long-term plan that he had helped establish? As we have seen many times over football is a ruthless business and you need a ruthless businessman (or businessperson ) holding the reigns and whilst I don't particularly like Spurs (thanks to a rather vociferous flatmate at Uni), I do begrudgingly admire what Levy has accomplished.
