Can will be gone, Coutinho too. Keita coming in will make the likes of Wijnaldum a squad player only. We really need a defensive midfielder and when Coutinho goes we will need to replace him too.

    I totally agree.

I have been thinking on this fab 4 stuff and TBH as good and all as coutinho is when all 4 have played its not really worked. Coutinho has actually played better tat LW/LF role and that maybe him just wanting that i don't know.

If keita comes in thats no 8 role right there. I would PRESUME mane, firmino and salah are locks unless something is going on so for a first team its then down to tactical decision making aorund the opposition. Lallana, wijnaldum or ox for other no 8 for example.

This all squarely to my mind points yet again to no 6 role.

    My view is this:

GK: Mingolet and karius - hardly ideal. klopp won't do anything here
RB: Clyne and TAA (next year) thats enough if clyne can get back. if not another needed
RCB: Gomez, Matip. By next year gomez might be serious pick here
    LCB: trash. buy two.
LB: huh... knowing klop the two will remain. moreno and roberston. neither up to it? moreno aint anyway.
no6: henderson... **** that alone should scare us all next year. he simply won't last a full season we all know it
    LCM: say kieta, milner
    RCM: lallana, wijnaldum, oxo
    LF: mane
    CF: firmino, solanke
    RF: Salah (oxo as repeat)

So yeah. I think you are right. if coutinho goes (we all know the score) then a left side forward player is required.

    No 6 is very clear

    LCB is very very clear

We need to score early goal against Arsenal to silent the crowd and make Wenger panic.

Does Klopp buy into us requiring a new #6 though?

If he does then in my view, assuming the full back positions are sorted, it's a brand new spine this summer.

    GK (badly needed imo)
CB (at least one, probably two)
    #6
    Keita
    Couthino replacement

I can't see it happening tbh unless we sell Couthino for £130m and pick up Draxler for £50m.

    VvD or similar £50m
    GK £30m
    #6 £40m

Total outlay £170m assuming the Keita deal has been accrued for.

Reality is we will get a CB and Keita and maybe a decent free agent or two.

Said that over and over again on these boards. He's simply not as good when in central position.

He has to play from the left because (although he plays some good through balls) his most effective trick is to cut inside and shoot with his right foot.
Rashford has started doing the same which is worrying because he is so much more than that.

I was looking at the league table and was surprised to find Arsenal have conceded as much as us 20. The "great" spurs team are on 18 conceded. Our defense has been discussed left right center but since the Spurs game we have only conceded 6 goals in 9 games. Of the 20 goals conceded, 9 have come from two games which was basically our 2 league losses. I know I may just have jinxed our defense but it is clear that we are not as bad as some pundits and fans make it out.

On the game, the target should be to score first. This will play right into our counter attacking football. Arsenal are always guilty of forcing the issue and it is the very reason United beat them. If they play a similar game to that one they might be in for a long Friday night. Here is hoping to another comfortable away win ..

    This is a tricky game.

We've done pretty well against Arsenal in recent seasons.

Hopefully they'll continue to attack and we'll catch them on the counter.

    3-2 Liverpool

yes our away form has completely turned around based on the fixtures we've got and the earlier mass leaking of goals away has slowed right down.

We have to look at the results though. only 2 losses and those are away to spurs and city and yes they coughed up 9 goals.

but 7 draws puts us firmly 4th.

watford a 3 goals conceded. wijnaludm error late on costs 2 points (set piece)
burnely 1-1 (they scored first) result looks ok now <laugh>
leicester A 3-2 win. thats game 2-0 up and terrible errors and a saved pen redeemed the blushes)
newkie A 1-1 1-0 up and awful goal conceded. zero pace at back and huge gap between cbs.
everton H 1-1 useless pen conceded 2 points thrown away
west brom H 0-0 were not up to the game.

These are the fixutres that have glossed it over:
    west ham away 4-1 win
    stoke away 3-0 win
    brighton away 5-1 win
    bournemouth a 4-0 win
2 goals conceded 16 scored. 12 points bagged. and so we should v this lot at the state they were in when we played them.

basically my message is don't read too much into that goals conceded figure. our defense is still rubbish, other teams have just done poorly too. We've had a great spell on the road lately but the fixtures coming up are:

    arsenal a
    swansea h
    leicester h
    burnely a
    everton H FA cup
    man city H
    Swansea A

of that only swansea are bottom half. Our defence should be a bit more tested in these games.

#Our defence is not a disaster as such.
Manchester city , Manchester united and Burnley conceded 12 goals each all season.

    Goals conceded

    Manchester city 12
    Manchester united 12
    Burnley 12
    Chelsea 14
    Tottenham 18
    Liverpool 20

As i said... look at the teams we've played just lately.

we've only let in 2 goals in last 5 games! (we were on 18 goals conceded after 14 games)

we have only conceded 4 goals in last 8 games! (after 10 games we had conceded 16)

Last year we had conceded 21 goals after 18 games and were 2nd in table

in 2013/14 we had let in 21 after 18 games.

The figures show a marked improvement in goals conceded per game stats in the last couple months. But yet again....

    since spurs result:

    Huddersfield Town H 3 - 0 (cannon fodder)
    Maribor H 3 - 0 (cannon fodder)
    West Ham United A 1 - 4 (cannon fodder)
    Southampton H 3 - 0 (cannon fodder)
    Sevilla A 3 - 3
    Chelsea H 1 - 1
    Stoke City A 0 - 3 (cannon fodder)
Brighton and Hove Albion A 1 - 5 (cannon fodder)
    Spartak Moscow H 7 - 0 (cannon fodder)
    Everton H 1 - 1
    West Brom H 0 - 0 (cannon fodder)
    Bournemouth A 0 - 4 (cannon fodder)

We have IMO only played 3 teams of any note and the everton game is of note only cos allardyce took over and its the derby.

seville away is the only horror show since the Spurs debacle.

There is no question that the forwards have been scoring and the defence have not conceded too many against **** teams.

Like.. the cheslea one.. its a corss that goes right in. **** happens. Everton goal. lovern **** up as per.

My view is we've had it pretty easy over the fixutes cos our attack scares the life out of these lower teams but the real test is were a team goes at us. Like ARSENAL.

Maybe klopp's done good work and all that who knows.
