The Swansea Way & Angel's Interview (must read)

(This may have been posted elsewhere - apologies if it has) In a most telling interview with Football Espana Rangel open's up on his impression of our situation. In addition to some history he also says of 'The Swansea Way' :-

“You can see that Swansea don’t do it now. We always talk about it, some of the players who have been here a long time.
“That’s the way we succeeded. Why are we changing it? That’s my only question. I know we have different players now, different managers.
“But the philosophy of the club could still be in place. And it’s not.”

Given how loyal and self effacing this player is, I think these comments speak volumes about the distress our longer serving players are feeling.
Maybe he, Britton, Dyer, Routledge and Curtis have their best day behind them but it shows they are hurting at our current standard of play.

Interesting.
Form my point of view it was definitely Monk who started dismantling the Spanish quota and bringing in more 'direct' players.

Don't forget, a few days before the window shut and Dyer getting kicked out, we played Chelsea off the park at Stamford Bridge and everyone was purring over the performance.

However, what is certain, since that Chelsea game two years ago, our football has been piss poor.

My view is and always has been Monk assays had to be in charge and would cause trouble if his ways weren't adopted. Laudrup and Sousa were coached football rather than spend hours of mindless fitness training. Once in charge Monk was all about fitness and imo the players left their legs on the training ground.

Laudrup was the last in the line of continental style coaches.
Monk didn't seem to understand the philosophy and with Laudrup we also lost access to European players as Tutumla went as well and possibly had a few quiet words in ears.
Monk got rid of quite a few footballers and it seemed we lost our good name on the continent and inexpensive 'diamonds' dried up.

Monk was limited as a player and as it turns out as a a manager too.

In terms of play - the best we have played IMO since Laudrup were Guidolins last three games. I can honestly say once Monk was appointed full time I found our play to be arsenumbingly boring (ironic from the man who made so much trouble for Sousa who at least had the excuse of no decent / fit strikers). A few good halves here and there but the rest was sit back and counter.

Monk and Chico said it didn't happen! The police said it didn't happen. One lady watching a training session said it did.
TBF Chico could be would up but if Chico had wanted to catch Monk he would have.
