I know this is off topic and might get stick over it but why do teams like Spurs lay down and die for Manure at Old Trafford?
You see fixtures like this and you know they never turn up..West ham were the same.
26 years since they last won there is a shocking statistic
They just seem to lack any sort of belief.Do you think it's because Redknapp is fergie's bitch?

Can't possibly be that Man Utd are just better, it must be either the officials or that opposition roll over for us, and since you can't blame the former for last night..........

And apparently we're sore losers <doh>

It was a close game until Utd scored, at that point Utd took over and secured an easy win with some good performances. Spurs should have commited more to attack in the first half but didn't play badly.

Fair play to Utd - they thoroughly deserved their win, played some good football and with a young team. I thought Utd would struggle in the coming years as it would be hard to replace the older players like Neville, Scholes, Van der Saar etc. Even without Vidic and Rio, their defence looked strong.

Spurs are an overrated team with overrated players and a overrated manager.

Most of the spud players are form player, when they hit it they are brilliant but most of the time they are pap. Bale is a great example, start of last season people are talking about him in the same sentence as Messi but whats he done since then... nothing

I don't think Spurs lay down. They simply aren't good enough. Their manager made one incredibly stupid mistake in not playing Palacios. I know there were rumours of him and Crouch going to Stoke. Has that materialised yet? Krancjar is not a central midfielder, they got simply over-run. If they put a similar side out against Liverpool at White-hart lane, I reckon we'll over-run them. There will be no worries about Lennon because if Enrique can put Walcott into his pocket he can easily marshall Lennon.
Adam and Lucas not mentioning Stevie Gerrard(whom will be back by then) will have too much for them.

Spurs centre midfield yesterday was shocking they put no pressure on utd what so ever.

This is generally why spurs and west ham rarely do well against them. They are too obsessed about the style of football rather than trying to win the game.

United central midfield isn't great, but neither is Spurs (Livermore and Kranjcar ffs!) and in the end United won that war of attrition in the middle and once the goal went in Spurs turned to soggy mush.

Not much hope for them this year, over-rated team, very over-rated manager

Manchester United are a quality team, playing at a magnificent stadium. If teams are over-awed then who can blame them. Big teams shouldn't roll over though, but I class Spurs as a good but hit-or-miss type of opposition.. either home or away against the big teams.

No there not and they were poor after the first 10 mins til they scored, even then werent much better, it was typical disrgraceful poor redknapp tactics, if put 2nd striker on at half time and had a go at them spurs may won, at least a point instead of giving a poor utd one of the most undeserved unflattering 3-0 wins ever

Hi Raffles. As you're new to this board, I'll be gentle. By all means, don't slag the mancs off, but don't be paying them compliments. They're pretty effective at doing that for themselves.

Lets see how this Man United central midfield does when a side gets stuck into them. It definitely won't happen this weekend as they are playing Arsenal. Due to suspensions (Frimpong and Song) and injuries (Diaby) Arsenal don't have that type of player. Wilshire certainly isn't that type of player, neither is Ramsey.
There will I'm sure of it be sides that will swarm all over them and lets see how they cope, they may and this is just a a may be better with Cleverly in their midfield, he did relatively well on loan at Wigan last year. His real test will be coming up against specialists in that area like John Obi Mikel and Lucas.

Man Utd have going for them what Michael Schumacher had going for him at Ferrari.

It would be frustrating to watch a battle for the lead crumble because the Ferrari driver would come round to lap a Minardi- and it would just pull over and let him by... Then when a Mclaren or Williams chasing him came to the same Minardi it would swerve like anything, ignore the blue flags, and generally just hold him up.

Or in reverse- Hakkinen could have a huge lead- only to lose it by a pain in the neck arrows- and then that same arrows would virtually stop and pull off the road to let Schumacher pass.

Why did teams do that for Ferrari- and why do they do that for United? Reputation. Both had built up a reputation of winning so that even when they were no longer the greatest (as Schumie certainly wasn't towards the end of his Ferrari days) others would just roll over for them. Now, I'm not saying that United arn't still the team to beat... they certainly are- but there have been recent seasons where they have been below par and still got these results.

Can't blame United at that. Instead- we need to figure out how in 10 years we can be the team everyone rolls over for.

Nice that Utd get SPURS, ARSENAL, CHELSEA AND CITY out the way - AT HOME(!!) - in the FIRST MONTH of the season.

    Nice that innit?

Drawback for later - or headstart? You fkin decide. I've seen it all before.

Spevin, I consider that a disadvantage but a minor one. Everyone plays everyone eventually. Playing Arsenal early will be the same advantage for Utd that Liverpool has though- as they clearly arn't full strength.
