We all knew before the game started that we were gonna get destroyed. We’re a perfect side for city to play against. Whilst on our day we can be dangerous in attack, they are better than us, especially in attack. Therefore if we play our game, they’ll play theirs with better players and there’s only one team that’ll win that contest.

But injuries aside, the players aren’t performing anywhere near as well as they were last season, especially in the league. Also, the quality of football city produced from the start of the season, and points gap they produced very quickly has resonated psychologically with other teams this year. We came close to winning the league 2 seasons in a row, and to have that ripped away so early this season must be such a kick in the balls for that same group of players. Add in the fact that Alli and Rose aren’t interested, Eriksen’s poor performances for 2 months, 2 average (at best) right backs, and back up striker who (if we’re honest) probably doesn’t suit the style of the team, it’s no wonder we’re having a mixed season.

Lamela is the only shining light at the moment.

January is a huge month. The chance to do some business, and when we should see some vital players return.

Yeah I get that we are depleted but there is nothing to suggest that the team is serious about the serious things.

Nothing to inspire anyone with. Rolling over to die...no real belief...well it seeps into the fanbase eventually.

    Alli can **** off <ok>

  9. The players need to take a real look at their individual performances. Fat Frank just said that too many have been resting on their laurels since the Madrid games - like that was the culmination of the season rather than a single step. And he’s right.

We have some really talented players and there is a lot still to play for, even this season. But somethings definitely not quite right - and City just brought it into stark focus.

    Only for league games though.
Funny how when playing in the CL shop window it’s a completely different attitude, even though we’ll never win the thing.
If you’d nearly tasted PL success 2 seasons in a row and you knew after 10-12 PL games it was over and you were basically fighting for 4th, and not 1st, wouldn’t you feel the same? It’s not acceptable, but it’s hardly surprising.

    Dele looks lost.
It don't ring true that he wants out...he looks like he is carrying the world on his shoulders pressure wise.
If I were the manager I would give him a break ... send him away for a week to try and get his head together.

Eriksen looks shattered to me...he looks like he needs a break.

Rose looks like an arrogant, self important twat and the sooner someone pays 50 plus million for the prick the better.

Trippier had a poor game but so do EVERYONE so in my opinion give him a break.

City have won the league ... we can come 4th and are only 3 points off it...after a terrible run of injuries.

I ain't being all happy clappy but this ain't arsenal tv...we are in the hunt for top four and with Lamela back, Wanyama returning and Toby to return we could well put a run together.

He’s not the only manager that spends money though.

Even with all the money in the world, I don’t think many if any would have them playing any better football right now.

No idea where to start here. Some harsh truths are probably best....

    - I love Trippier but he is a million miles away from what Kyle offered us. We have regressed badly down that flank.
    - Rose was so far off the pace I almost felt sorry for him. Sell in Jan.
    - Our front 4 play together like they met for the first time on the coach journey up to the match. No coherence, constantly in each other's way and so so lax in possession.
    - Welcome to the highest level, Mr Winks.
    - I'm willing to cut the defence some slack as it is a severely depleted unit up against possibly the most deadly in world football right now...
    - ...but the front 4 really, really worry me. Son at least works hard and looks to get on the ball but Kane has been uncharacteristically quiet for the past few games - even against Stoke he missed some golden chances that an on-form kane would've buried. Forget Shearer's record now. Eriksen and Alli baffle me. We're talking 3 months now since we saw anything of note from either of them. Yeah I get the whole 'form is temporary class is blah blah blah', but how much longer does this need to go on for before we start questioning whether they simply don't want to be at the club anymore?
    - Poch completely screwed up tactically and played into their hands. Continually picking players who are so badly out of sorts is a recipe for disaster against the most in-form team in the world. Totally agree with DH. In hindsight we needed something different. Something to give them what to think about. Is it any great crime to put Kane and Llorente on the pitch at the same time?!

Burnley up next. That's going to be another really tough game. Big, big week ahead.

He’s not proven that though. When he inherited that team, rather than working with the ones he had, (who were better than most teams already) he culled tonnes of them and spent a fortune on new ones. Within months.
He’s got them playing amazing football because he’s spent and spent until he’s got all the best ones, bar a select few.

    Agreed.

I would hope for better in the PL, but even in spite of key
injuries + the Wembley busparquet, things are not as
    terrible as they could be.

Manager + squad must take it upon themselves to remain
thereabouts until the likes of Toby + Wanyama return to the fold.

    Agree with most of this.
Although Eriksen has been poor, he must be shattered. Never gets a break and in addition don’t think the way we are setting up is aiding his game at the moment, and hasn’t done for some time.

Winks is young and had a couple of poor games, one of which has been against the best opposition we’ve faced this season. Once he’s been poor for 3 months, let’s revisit this! <laugh>

We’re struggling at the moment, and there’s not a lot we can do with all aspects considered.

What I think we can do though, is start KWP, drop Alli, and perhaps give Llorente 90mins with Kane.

There’s no reason to suggest that those changes would make us us weaker, and with Burnley as our next opponent, I think they could work out for us.

Agree with you about Winks. I didn't mean it as a criticism - it's for his own good to have these experiences and learn from them at this stage of his career.

What do you mean by us not being set up to Eriksen's strengths?

I don't mind losing....but there was no fight...no desire. To me it felt like...It's no big deal because City are beating everyone anyway. Not good enough.
