That was DREADFUL. City are a top, top team, but we were abject and several (most) of the team need to take a long hard look at themselves. Not good enough, on so many levels.
If it’s any consolation City have rolled over most teams this season. A blank chequebook does help a bit!
Traveling fans deserve more - and the club should look to refund their tickets and travel. At least THEY turned up!
Didn't think we were as bad as the score suggests, they got the luck of the bounce a couple of times for their goals. They were definitely the better side though and deserved their win. Reffing was all over the place again, should've been straight reds for Otamendi, Kane and Alli whilst Fernandinho should have gone too. Once again we're saying how a player gets a pen if he goes down. Debruyne boots the ball away to get a pen and it works, Winks stays on his feet and gets nothing. How wrong is that?
First off, what a team this City bunch are. de Bruyne and Sane have absolutely ripped us to pieces today. I'd be gobsmacked if they don't win the league this year. As far as our own performance goes, I think we had the right tactic under the circumstances. We could have done with playing the ball forwards over the top more quickly at times bit I think we had to go at them without Sanchez, Toby and Vic available. We couldn't play as we did against Real Madrid as we just don't have the personnel available defensively. Our execution was extremely poor though, from the first goal we conceded onwards. Injuries and suspensions mean that Dembele and Winks have played a lot recently and looked absolutely knackered, and that showed in their performance. Alli has been playing slowly this season, taking three or four touches when one or two would do. All our play, whether round the back or forwards has been laboured and slow, and we cannot afford that, least of all today. This City team are so good they would make nearly any team look bad. That said Poch has a lot to do to get this team back in shape. We have a week off now so hopefully we go to Burnley refreshed. But the relentless edge and intensity we had over the last two seasons is starkly absent. That does not bode well at all unless Poch can fix that.
Dembele was truly awful today though. We need Wanyama back badly but I think we'll need another midfielder in January, hopefully Barkley gets done and I'd bring back Onomah too.
Exactly halfway through the season and we sit 7th. Must do better and must get key players back from injury and poor form.
No excuses we were well beaten and it should have been worse city could have scored more.I thought we would lose this one but dissapointed too many players were below par.
Good luck finding three comments in a row on our Facebook or Twitter accounts without some genius using the words "Please sell" in front of the name pretty much every single player who started this evening. Do these geniuses need to watch some ArsenalFanTV to realise what they look like?
I genuinely think that with our best XI available and on it, we could give them a damn good game. But we've been blown away today as tiredness and sloppy decision making kicked in. We need a creative midfield player and an attacker in Jan. Barkley could be the latter to come in and give everyone in those positions a much needed kick up the arse. And Goretzka would be an unbelievable signing in the former category but that is probably not going to happen as there would be a lot of competition for him - but we need a player of his ilk. Onomah could be one day but is not yet at a level to be relied on in my opinion, but Dembele cannot do it on his own and is not getting any younger, and Winks is too young to have found his consistency yet. So we need someone there.
FFS lads, cut the excuses! Winks and a Dembele weren’t tired, they were overrun. Lloris pulled off a couple of good saves but otherwise gave the defence no confidence, often playing them into trouble, Dier played like he’d never defended in his life, Rose lived up to his pre-match billing (nothing) and Trippier looked out of his depth. Leaving Dembele on and taking Son off was bizarre and Poch must take a lot of the blame for today!
Citeh were very open today, but it would take a Spurs team playing at its higher levels to have turned them over. Will be interesting to see the return fixture when all of Toby + Ser Davos + Wanyama are back in the team.
First of all Man City are exceptional. What a side they are. Could they be the best side ever in the premier league? The way they are going yes. Now onto us, that was abject, pittiful, damn right embarrassing. The scoreline absolutely flattered us. Not one player performed and aside from the champions league we never perform when it matters. Our away record against the top sides is just embarrasing. We dont keep clean sheets against the top sides, yes Alderweireld, Sanchez and Wanyama were absent but we still concede when they are in the side against the best. Everytime we jad the ball or didnt have the ball we made mistakes, poor passing, crossing, inviting needless pressure with slow, ponderous and suicidal passing. We gave away stupid fouls, often reckless and we were damn lucky to finish the game with 11 men. I love Poch and what he has done for the club but where was his reaction when were being overrun? where is the leadership on the pitch? Dembele is a pale shadow of the player he was, and needs replacing, Eriksen aside from his goal rarely performs in the big games away from home. Lloris is good but not great, Dier isnt a CB and Dele is so out of form recently. Maybe im being too harsh and as i said City are a special side but im just so dissapointed in us today.
