Just to say. If you want to see real defending see lukaku being run out of room v city and if you want to see a real dive watch Herrera flop over. C'mon lads lovren screwed the pooch.
The interviewer went into #meltdown when Klopp asked him a question. Today's team was good enough to beat a team like Everton. Klopp's mistake was failing to account for "derby refereeing"
If that's all it takes to knock him over it's a good job the snow wasn't a bit heavier. You misunderstand me. I'm not saying it doesn't look like a pen to the ref. I'm saying a player is not "entitled" to go down because he feels a bit of contact. I'm not blaming the ref, he was conned, but cheating isn't justified by its being clever. It's an aspect of the game that I would like to see eliminated, but it won't be if fans, pundits and commentators continue to condone it.
The test is whether it would have been given as a foul in any other area of the pitch. The striker runs towards the ball protecting it by slowing down and there is contact from behind by the defender. It is foul and in any other area no one would even bat an eyelid. That it was theatrical does not matter. So for me it is a pen and it is Lovrens fault.
Players dive in the modern game. I think it's a disgrace but moaning about it isn't going to change the fact it is part of the game. We as a club can't do anything about it. We can't do anything about the referee either. However, our players can control their own actions. Lovren simply didn't need to make a challenge. The player was going away from goal. Lovren just needed to stand him up but instead, he gave the player a chance to go down and the referee a decision to make. If Lovren stands him up, there is no penalty.
Come on. If Mane had done this, we would have praised him "for being sensible". Our players have done that in the past and no one blamed them. How many times have we had clear pens not given for fouls because our players made it difficult for referees to make a decision. There is diving and there is going down when there is a foul.
the draw is not a bad result imo. I said so pre game but after seeing how bad Everton were I can understand the felling of losing 2 points. I reckon Everton will improve rapidly though. we should move on now and win next couple. time to focus on winning games now. enough rests.
I think it's annoying because we tested players again (why?) and if we hadn't we could have won easily. Plus, we should have been 2-0 and game over but for Mane being a greedy ****!
