That's what many rival fans were asking, with some taunting us about our ever declining team of OAPs, with the same old bull**** about this being the "end of an era". Is it any surprise that Sir Alex appears to be building yet another successful side? Really? Our current side is one of the youngest sides in Premiership history and have just brushed aside a team considered contenders for the top 4. Some people really should learn not to write Manchester United (Or Sir Alex) off.
fumbled a cross that came off someones head and parried a shot. but held it when kicked by defoe 3 seconds later
A bit better, he still looks dodgy on crosses though. I think that given a year or two he will bulk up which should give him greater strength and presence and hopefully mean that he is better on crosses.
Berb - I think you will find that the vast majority of people have Utd down as the team to beat. So what's the real point behind your thread?
Hmm that wasn't exactly an easy cross to deal with. There was a fantastic claim by him at Wembley. Towered above everyone, took it cleanly and planted the ball straight away 70 yards away on Young's (if I remember correctly) foot. Bulking up will help him bounce players off him to get at the ball. VDS wasn't always brilliant at that either. But his general technique at fielding the ball is near perfect. Does it the modern way with palms open (so needs good grip) and does the cricket fielding method of the barrier.
Exactly - I don't get what Berb is on about. Everyone i speak to clearly has utd as favourites - and the majority say their squad is improved.
He never come out for crosses for us though. His strong points were quick reactions and distribution. Was surprised to see him start badly but he does sometimes suffer from nerves. At the bernabeu he was shaking under the pressure and made mistakes. However I still believe he will become world class, hopefully for Atletico though!
My point is that Sir Alex appears to be building another very good young team and replacing the likes of Giggs and Scholes when some people doubted that he would. It's not long ago some people were writing Man Utd off because they, apparently, had an ageing side.
Well he is going to have to. I don't watch Spanish football but I'm guessing that generally there is fewer crosses than there is in English football and they aren't as many Kevin Davies about. At least he isn't afraid to try and claim it. What I've always been told is that I musn't be afraid of opposing attackers and that I should take out my own defenders to either catch the ball or punch it. What I do like though is that he does shout out KEEPER quite loudly and clearly.
Yeah but i doubt anyone questioned Fergies ability to bring young players in and also bring youngsters through the ranks (except of course KPR!). As much as i dislike Fergie i would never doubt his ability as a football manager.
I don't remember anyone slagging off Uniteds side and their prospects. Chelsea's ageing squad on the other hand...
Depends on the opposition really, some cross a lot but our back line last year was all over 6ft and good in the air. Him shouting keeper is new and it is good to see him still progressing
There are certain people who write him off, claiming he's going senile and should leave before he damages the club
