There's been situations where grounds have been perfectly playable, but police have called the game off because the surrounding roads are dangerous - could we be in the same position today?
It snowed here for the first time in years yesterday. Enough to make a rushed snowdude with my daughter. A couple of hours later - snowdude was no more. Today will be a balmy 72 degrees. Strange, strange weather. Hoping NBC is covering this one later. It's my birthday and our 2-0 victory will be a nice present.
Happy Birthday. Reminds me of my first trip Stateside in 1985: awoke to 2" of snow in NYC, next day was 70+. Bizarre.
Thanks Fez. The downside to snow and ice here is that most of the locals have no experience of driving in it. Short term truck carnage ensued.
Respect and team spirit. All new players say the "dressing room atmosphere is the best" they have experienced plus "the training is the most enjoyable". Also Dyche is big on "fitness and stamina". He takes pride in having the fittest players in the league. Dean Marney, aged 33, is the perfect example. Fitter since he was 30 than when he was in his 20s. Today probably only Steven Defour will be allowed to wear gloves by Dyche and that is because he is Belgian (foreign) and not English or Irish.
Never understood why "fitness and stamina" seems to not be number one priority for all squads. But can't imagine SD putting up with any slackers. He was my idea of a great manager for the 'orns and I was sad we missed out. What impressed me most was how he had a longer-term plan for Burnley and I remember him saying that, very importantly for him, that everyone was onboard with the plan. Sounds simple. Just wish Walter M had heard of it. Almost hoping for a draw now Anyway all the very best for both sets of fans who brave the weather
BIG NEWS Carrillo gets off the coach wearing shorts, he must have read my comment about his hot water bottle!!
Gomes; Janmaat, Mariappa, Kabasele, Zeegelaar; Cleverley, Doucouré; Carrillo, Pereyra, Richarlison; Deeney. subs: Karnezis, Prödl, Holebas, Watson, Capoue, Success, Gray.
A bit surprised to see Success in there, but fair play to him if he has been impressing at training. Wonder why no Femenia?
The Macclesfield v Wrexham match has been held up whilst the snow is shoveled off the pitch. Doesn't bode too well for 3:00pm...
NINE of the 11 National League North (mainly Lancs, Cheshire, Yorks, North East teams) have been postponed. ALL matches in the National League South go ahead. Bury and Accrington (only 4 miles from Burnley) also postponed.
BB glad we are having a good season. The bottom of that table is starting to roll up. I can see Palace and Swansea getting points. My mate from Newcastle is getting very concerned. But now: C'mon u'orns
