Breaking News.... this is probably the most enjoyment I've got out of Star Wars:

Not of major interest to most on here*, but last night I went to the live screening of the Nutcracker by the Royal Ballet. The cinema was rammed....they had to put it on in 2 screens....and it was announced that it was being streamed in 32 countries simultaneously. At £15 per head (seniors) it wasn't cheap either. Absolutely magical....if any of you get dragged to a ballet by small members of your family, make it this one. Very Christmassy, lively, charming and glittery.
I had noticed that cinemas were putting on these 'live' performances of plays, operas and ballets and vaguely wondered why....very popular and brings in the punters. Amazing queues.

*Apologies to any balletomanes....I am not trying to out you.

A bone believed to be that of St Nicholas has been dated as coming from the right era. Gulp. What are they trying to say....that Santa is dead<yikes>

And I've been good for a whole year:bandit: for no reason.

I saw the Nutcracker at the Bristol Hippodrome years ago when my youngest was doing ballet lessons, absolutely brilliant. I do actually like ballet (there, I’m out!), but your general point is very well made, and live screening of ballet, opera, and so on is a great way of bringing these events to the larger population who would never get the chance otherwise. A friend of mine is a big opera aficionado and regularly goes to live screenings at the Bristol Showcase. He says it’s not quite as good as being there, but you get better views of the performers than you would from the gods in the theatre.

Oh God the Hippodrome! I have many painful memories of being dragged there at Xmas for some pantomime or some other play when I was younger. Had some PTSD symptoms when I walked past it the other day and saw a massive banner advertising Aladdin with Joe ****ing Pasquale.

Not quite as bad as the Old Vic though.

Being pregnant she couldn’t get on a ladder.....

Now I’m home, our 6ft tree was a doddle. I’ll never moan to Mrs No7 ever again about putting it up [emoji16]

Bollocks, missed tonight's episode. Sod it. I'm going on iPlayer. Like you I love Detectorists. They're only finishing because they want to go out on a high. Come back.! Even lower you'll be better than 99% of the other stuff.

Jeez, half an hour flashed by in 5 minutes. Certainly one of the best episodes.

Looking forward to watching it on catch up tonight. Can’t they even do one special episode? It’s the best thing on tv at the moment ..... apart from the Blue Planet of course :emoticon-0105-wink:
