He is now guaranteed to score <laugh>

I just cannot see big Sam coming up with anything effective to stop our attack. First they don't have the players of sufficient quality to defend for long periods and second, they don't have attacking players of ability to cause us problems and to relieve the pressure. Rooney will want to stamp his mark on the game but he is no longer the player he was a few years ago.

    3-0.

    Gueye?
    Morgan?
    Baines?
    Pickford?

Yeah Williams is a nutjob these days but aerially he's fine.

Like.. sorry but I simply don't understand how Koeman couldn't organise this lot. I really don't.

    Baines is in serious decline
Never got the the fuss re Morgan
Gueye is a decent DM but just decent
Pickford is good but not i'm not sure he is good as often portrayed since it easy to find good saves since he has to make so many saves at Everton & previously Sunderland.

Personally think the individuals , unless outstanding ,are less important that the team organisation.
Think we win but i'm not that confident & wish Unsworth was still in charge :emoticon-0176-smoke

Lallana does not press aimlessly, he is extremely good at it.

He also always looks to cut across the defender, so wins a foul most of the time when he loses possession.

Just a cruyff turn... Very lazy analysis, that

He doesn’t press aimlessly all the time but he does quite a few times. Sees ball, chases ball. It leaves spaces in the middle and if he were to do it whilst playing deeper, we’d be in trouble.

Pressing isn’t just about seeing the ball and running as quickly as possible. Far more intelligence involved.

Take away the work rate, there isn’t much else to his game.

There is a lot to he's game, but i agree we can't play him deeper as no one knows how to hold

    disagree
he is by far our best player in the press and often leads it. I'd argue that he is quite clever at it as he will just jog from player to player until a slightly misplaced pass or poor touch then he pounces.
I think he is more "creative" than he is sometimes credited with.

On the out of position point i find that quite funny coming from such a staunch proponent of Moreno.

Fair enough but are we missing his pressing now?

It hasn't been required in recent weeks, there will be plenty of games where it will be - great to have options, you need a squad with different attributes and Lallana will play a part this season

Lallana back in this side will only improve it, he is a perfect fit for the type of football we saw last night imo.
He can score, create goals, thread a pass, he has good energy.......I really rate him, I think we have missed his contribution.
Especially earlier on in the season when the goals were not flowing as they are now.

As Solid says, these are exactly the criticisms that most of the rest of us have of Moreno.
I think you're harsh on Lallana here, he has much more going for him than that. His main weakness for me is that there are quite a few games that he just can't seem to get into.
Anyway, we've all moaned for years about squad depth, and just as we're building it up we're discussing getting rid of players? Makes no sense to me, unless you have a queue of better ones ahead of him.
What happens if Coutinho is injured, or when he and Genghis leave? what happens when the winter and the long season start to take their toll of our current first choices? We can't do a Chelsea or City and hoover up all the best players around, but we need some decent quality in depth, and he's certainly good enough for that.

Yeah but it sounds good cos the guy throws at least one in every game before passing the ball back cos he has a rep to maintain.

You guys want the truth about lallana?

He's a sunshine boy who turns up when nothing's on the line or the games won.

I think this will be a shock 2-2 draw and I think there will be 3 sendings off 2 for us 1 for them in last 10.....

If we had a DM, Lallana would be first choice alongside the quartet. Since we don't, he'll be a squad player. Can't see all five playing very often

Lallana started adding goals to his game last season which is what was missing. Not the best player in the world, not the quickest, but ball at his feet he links up well with those around him because he’s intelligent.

Does he get in ahead of current front 4? No of course not but that front 4 have played 4 games together this season because of injury, suspension and rotation. If Cout is out, Lallana is closest thing we have that can come in and replace him.
