Well, it's almost that time of the year again, no I am not referring to Christmas but the January transfer window. We have been informed that we have identified where we need to strengthen (that couldn't have been difficult considering we are weak throughout) and know who we would like to bring in. What I would like to know is will we be signing early in the window or will we be doing our normal last minute panic buying.
Think our entire business will depend on shipping players out first so I think that will dictate the timing.
We have absolutely no dea what the budget if any will be. Alot could hinge on someone coming in for Konè. We now need 2 centre backs and atleast one striker, two if Grabban goes back That would give Coleman the chance to go with his preferred formation that should hopefully tighten us up and give Grabban a much needed partner up top.
I reckon Kone and N’ Dong will go if we get any offers. Oviedo as well. The rest of them are pretty crap and I would think no team would want any of them. Watmore is out for the season so he will stay. McNair is always injured. McGeady and McManaman are inconsistent. Grabban will not want a relegation on his cv and if he’s got any ambition will be off. The young ‘uns are probably the only half decent ones left, Honeyman, Gooch and a couple of others. Whatever we get from any sales will disappear (to service our debt) and maybe CC will get a million to completely overhaul the squad. If that is the case we will be relegated. If we get somewhere between 15-20 million to spend we should stay up. CC has certainly got a huge task but I don’t think the club will back him.
It wouldn't take anywhere near that to stay up. With loans and players entering the last 6 months of their contracts we could be savvy and spend around £5-8m and be fine. It's more to do with what Coleman can get out of the current crop that will define our season. Players here need to step up and any January additions should hopefully provide a boost
This sadly sums us up but I think the youngsters will keep us up if more are tried - imo if your good enough you're old enough and if Rooney Owen Beckham Giggs etc were not given a chance at a young age we'd never have known about them. Our academy players have a winning mindset and no negative feelings of failure plus the backing of the fans.
I know it's too early to call but the Wolves result with a so called weak team contained a few of our younger players. It was also a Gibson mom -, things are looking up. I think we have players already here who could gel to pull us up the league with CC's magical influence. I'm not getting too carried away just patiently using my life long Sunderland coping skills -
It's pretty much nailed on that Grabban is a gonner on January 1st so we need to be scouring premier league teams for a replacement on loan.
