Has anyone got the betting, couldn’t find it on ‘Oddschecker’, re who is behind ‘door 1’ of the ‘Not 606 Advent Calendar’ of the morrow??? It’s the question that all members are pondering…

A superb card at Newbury (so good in fact, I'm taking the day off work)

    Willoghby Court & Thistlecrack double.

Superb renewal of the Long Distance Hurdle <ok>

Yep, can’t disagree. Wonderful card across the county line, at Newbury, of the morrow. I really like ‘the hope of the county’ Yanworth (1.50), Thistlecrack (3.00) and the horse of Mr Henderson’s named after a failed Tottingham manager. Comes from a lovely family, the horse not the failed Tottingham manager, as Mr Henderson trained his dam to win and his half-sister is Grade 2 placed. Not cheap either, again the horse not the failed Tottingham manger, cost a cool £150,000 after winning a Didmarton point. Huge potential with both a capital ‘H’ and a capital ‘P’, pilgrims.

    Good luck, crew.

I need to have a look at the conditions for the Long Distance Hurdle as I cannot get my head round the weights that they are due to carry. At the weights Thistlecrack would appear the one to beat but I never like horses reverting to hurdles after a season chasing.
I have backed one ante post in the race at 16's so I am very pleased to see it in the entries. Cracking race.

Anyone taking odds on about the Yak in the novice chase needs to see a professional. May bolt up but not looked a natural jumper thus far.

Your old girl is 6 lbs ‘wrong’ with Thistlecrack isn’t she???

This may upset the 'racing purists' (remember them?!?) but I can never see anything wrong with horses switching between hurdles and fences providing they are in the right barn. Altior should certainly have done so at Cheltenham in March in my opinion.

I think you’re being a bit harsh of ‘the hope of the county’, Stick.

The ‘county set’ no less will be on…

Fair point but 7/1 bar the pair tells you it's not far off one! I'm simply pointing out if your knocking Yanworth's jumping it's probably best to consider his main rival was very bleeding lucky to even get round the last day. I don't think Yanworth's jumping was too bad and it was a very soft fall. No doubt the Pauling horse should jump better going this way round. Not a race I'd be punting but I certainly wouldn't be a layer at odds against on Yanworth, as I do fully expect him to win.

I’m heading to Newbury on Saturday, and it’s fair to say I’m jealous of tomorrow’s card. Working at home though <cheers>

Aside from the big meetings, sorry to embarrass us all with a post about ****ing Southwell <laugh> but Bubbly Bellini is over for the 1 40 Southwell!!! Wtf!!!! Very interesting raider, and if it likes the Fibresand could make a complete mockery of the 10/1

    UKNOWWHATIMEANHARRY 2/1 3PM Newbury

2/1 about the best long distance hurdler in training last year who's running against a chaser coming off a serious injury that may or may not have had his heart ripped out of him against Many Clouds last time out. 6lbs pull isn't ideal but 2/1 makes up for that. Serious punt for me.

Cracking card tomorrow, I will be attending! UKnowhatimeanharry gets my vote also, surely just a warm up for Thistlecrack before the King George.
I was hoping JP would run Modus instead of Yanworth and at the prices I’ll take a chance on the Nicholls horse.

More worried about Colin’s sister (who I have backed EW) then him bob! Giving Thistlrcrack 6lbs is asking a hell of a lot! First run back or not you know his jumping will be slick it will be if it gets to the nitty gritty bit at the end then we will see what Thistlecrack has in him but I don’t even see it getting it to that!

Didn't realise Bubbly Bellini had ran at southwell a few times before albeit 7 years ago. Came 1st and two 2nd's by necks.

Weak race, top two in the betting - Pearl Nation has been off for nearly a year and Zaeem only has one eye (not joking)
