I did I am afraid. I never do but couldn't face the Bees' fans singing all the way along SAR and on the tube. Oh me of little faith.
I lost my live stream just before Brentford's second goal. I saw on here that Brentford had scored and didn't try to get the stream up and running again. Regret it now (with the benefit of hindsight of course).
After years of attendance (only one or two missed home games in four years) I had never left a game early before, I even sat to the bitter end at the Newcastle drubbing. Last night was the very first game I exited early (at 88 minutes) typical eh? My excuses.... it was Monday night, after having left straight from work, which started at 7am, still in a work suit, the prospect of Bees fans gloating on the way home, after making my team look like amateurs for much of the night, tired, miserable and having made another poor decision to try my very first (shockingly awful) Loftus Road burger, which, in the words of Ignatious Riley, was causing me severe problems with my valve, it was all more than I could take. Holloway shouldn't be slating the likes of me for leaving early, he should praise us for attending, for sitting through almost an hour and an half of dross and not complaining too much about yet another pi55poor performance and the dose of botulism that was thrown in for those poor sods who chanced the catering.
I took my soon to be 13 year old son. He wanted to leave at 85 minutes and I made him stay until 90 at which we point we left. I didn't need much persuading in truth. Heard both goals from South Africa Road. Strange mix of emotions. Gutted to have missed the moment overshadowing the fact we didn't lose.
Oh well here we go but I can think of no good reason to leave early. 1. I don't buy the miss the traffic rush thing. If you've come to an evening game from Devon, getting home at 02:00 or 02:30 is not going to make a huge difference. 2. The lads have tried their best and deserve applause. 3. If you really feel they have not tried their best, you should stay and do whatever you do to express that displeasure. I've never booed my own team but I might stand and not applaud - that's as bad as it gets for me. 4. Last minute goals are not THAT unusual. Last night's scenario is pretty unusual. Was Derby away the last time? Even if it's only 1:150 games , teh adrenaline rush was incredible as was the joy of seeing the Bee's fans silenced! By leaving early, you reduce your chance of seeing such a revival to 1:300 or 1:450 (arbitrary figures for example only). 5. You've paid good money to be entertained so get your full allocation since you don't know what might happen. 6. Keep the manager happy!!! Personally no trouble with what Olly said and I do think he needs to be extended some courtesy for the (very high) heat of the moment. He is an honourable man and will say something more measured in due course. Just a personal view as ever and in no way designed to be condescending. Always left scratching my head by the early leavers. Sure others may have a contrasting view.
It's the first time I have left early since I can remember. Perhaps the club should start paying me to do so.......
I left on 90 mins as I had to catch 10.18 from Charing Cross to West Wickham & heard loud noise walking down SARoad gutted as I’ve never left early before & got text from my son in law saying your not a tube!
Stayed...I have never left early... (stayed to the end at Forest a few weeks ago, stayed to the end of the Newcastle drubbing) In fact I rationalised it, there would be less of a crush to get out of the Upper Loft at the end than in the 80-90th minute when other people were leaving. You never know what might happen....
I stayed thankfully. However, I did say to my mate as we went into injury time 'what time is the next train' By the time he had checked we had got one back. There is a lesson here for me because I had a lucky let off a good few year ago when my brother wanted to leave at half time when we were 4-0 down at home to Newcastle. We agreed to stay and watch the start of the second half. I would never have forgiven him if we had missed that 5-5 thriller! I left early when we were 4-0 down to Fulham in the 6-0 thrashing at their place. I was in their end and their gloating was insufferable. Amusingly, they had to open the gate to let us out! I nearly always stay though as funny things happen like last night.
I lost my stream before their 2nd, found another, on my phone, half screen, advert in the middle which I couldn't get rid of, no sound, so I could only work out what was going on by the movement the few remainers on the periphery of the screen.
I was fortunate enough, due to a very early start on Monday morning, to have dozed off just around kick-off and was awoken by a howl from the missus just as we equalised but was too disorientated to take in what I saw and dozed off again, that'll teach me...
The streets when I left were empty enough No point in me leaving anyway as I used just park App and need the traffic to die down anyhow I never leave early I go to watch the full match win or lose
Many of you will know that I’m as liberal and laissez-faire as they come, so it should be of little surprise that I am pro individual choice when it comes to leaving a match early. In fact, in keeping with these modern times I wouldn’t just leave early, I would wrap my feather boa around my neck and flounce out.
In 50 years of going, I have left early once, about 10 years ago, it was freezing, I had a little one with me and we were 2-0 down. I left after 80-85 minutes and do you know what, we lost 2-0
