In all the hullabaloo of the massive come back, Olly's 'Foot in mouthgate' and the intense debate on the early exit or remain debate, two things are in danger of being.lost.

Firstly, and more importantly, Smithies' save from Haircut near the beginning was as good a save as any that graced the PL this weekend. Ball heading for the top corner, slightly wrong footing him resulting in a spinning leap that gave him just enough height and breadth to get a strong hand to the otherwise net bound ball. Take a bow son!

Secondly, and more tenuous I grant, LuaLua showed with just one touch what he can do and I hope to see a lot more of that flair in the months to come.

I thought Hollows apology was the most cringe worthy thing since that sad American film I saw a few years back.
    However
He said sorry so we move on.

I'd seen WLS gave Smithies a 9. Having just watched the extended highlights I see why. Some fantastic saves.

He could be the difference between staying up and relegation this season.

I think the sentiment is genuine. I'm sure he was advised to do it, but I reckon his words reflect his, now calm, feelings.

That was the first I'd seen of us in a while, I turned on in the first half when we were having a good spell, baptiste made a nice block and Robinson made a couple in quick succession, we seemed to play with energy, but it was all quite loose and hopeful.

So, I maintain that, given the financial situation and the harsh lessons learned, I'd rather have a team of players who clearly give a **** over the mugs we've watched in recent years, and regardless of Ollie's weaknesses, I'd rather have him in charge than some Allerdyce/Hodgeson/Moyes character who wearily slopes from job to job, saying the same old safe crap.

Fair play for the apology, it doesn't need to be brought up in the future to solidify any other case. Move on.

French wouldn’t of turned up at all !
Look no biggy evening has gone and it’s just me. I just got mad when I experienced the exodus first hand ... I rushed to get there as don’t as many games as I should live
I seriously believe in our midfield at the moment ... hardness working side for a long while we just need composure in front of goal because we are getting better on the ball and play very well on build up plus we mix the long ball very well. Too much snatching at chances
This team of ours is pumped up for a fight regardless of the total quality of the side and it’s parts ... I feel we owe them our total support because as fans we have a reputation at home especially evening games ... we are letting ourselves down as well as the club that just my opinion

I honestly rage when I read the continued slagging of our team on here .... we now have a growing side that needs support

The days of Harold are behind us now that was an era to be pissed about but not now

Fair play, an apology has been given. Done and dusted.
I think we have a core of a championship team. We certainly have weaknesses. We certainly have players not performing to the level of the core players.
We do need to develop much further as a team and squad though. We have shown what we can do against top teams, but we are very inconsistent. Much of that, in my opinion, is down to the manager. I know where I stood with his appointment, but I’m keeping my powder dry until after Christmas - it’s only fair to give him the summer to build and half the season to prove he knows what he is doing and where he’s taking us. He’s certainly brought grit and the semblance of a team ethic. Still a few weeks to go and plenty of opportunities to move us up the league.
