Just remembered about Hesketh. Would love for him to get a chance if Pellegrino was planning to rotate. Maybe for Davis. He's prolific for the u23's right now.
I am as fickle as the next fan. I am not dreading this now. Be a good mid week adventure (in my bedroom)
I have never bought into the "don't change a winning team" cliché. You play the players best suited for the tactics employed in that game. For City we need a striker who will chase lost cause after lost cause. Austin is not going to do that. I would go for Long.
Wednesday 29th November 20:00 Man City v Southampton Referee: Paul Tierney Assistants: Adrian Holmes, Mick McDonough Fourth official: Bobby Madley
Several players seemed to take significant knocks, Charlie was struggling, Virgil turned an ankle and Cedric has a scar to prove he was there.
I've never bought into that tbh. The right team for facing one of the worst sides in the league at home is different to the right team for an away trip to the best. Romeu and Lemina have to play for me.
I can't see us winning, but as long as we put up a good fight, I'll be happy. The Bournemouth game should be higher priority.
I'd use both, but at different times. I'd start with Long and look to stretch the play for the first 60 mins, then after that I'd bring on Austin and look to go at them for the final 30. I wonder if City will go into this match overconfident after their win at Huddersfield...
Bring Charlie on as an impact sub. Charlie is unlikely to have much impact over a whole game where we won't see much of the ball.
If we smash the ball forward every time we win it back, it will come back at us just as quickly no matter who is up front.
Looking on the bright side, City will be without Stones and Mendy in defence, which leaves them with just half a dozen full internationals to choose from.
Not sure Virgil wants to play against City, can see him missing this with a "reoccurring ankle injury", could be just the pessimist in me.
