Saw that last night while giggling at the GOT message board, brilliant!

It does demonstrate why we shouldn't make the mistake of thinking we're world beaters now though. Everton really have found a whole new "next level", just not the one they expected.

Oh and I changed my seat from the settee to the big comfy chair yesterday. A tactical decision based on access to a side table loaded with tasty snacks and wine. I will, of course, keep the board informed of any further developments in this area.

Having a full English (plus 2 coffees and change from a fiver :emoticon-0100-smile) in a cafe just outside Johannesburg and basking in that warm glow that I haven’t felt for a long time. Saints score 4 at home and go 10th, it’s about 25 outside and all is well with the world :emoticon-0103-cool:
The only downside is that I have to fly back on Thursday night, it’s frigging freezing in England and if we lose to Citeh and Bompey, all the doubters will be back and knives out for Fraser, MP, Davis ....... :emoticon-0121-angry
I thought our Pete done brilliant, Sophie was unplayable, Wes was better than Virg and the whole team looked amazing - even if they were playing a team who some lower division team (let’s just say Pompey for example :emoticon-0130-devil) would have beaten. Siggy looked better when he wasn’t getting roasted by Cedric, but the rest of the team were pants.
Onward and upward - let’s stifle Citeh’s midfield, stop Sterling playing and pinch a breakaway from Shane in the 87th minute ...... after all, isn’t it Everton who are the only team (so far) to have denied them a home win?

Another point - was watching City v Terriers last night and when they scored their second goal the commentator said “Jesus! Good save. In off Sterling ....”
The lady whose house I’m staying at (who is quite religious) said “Well there’s no need for that kind of language” :emoticon-0102-bigsm. I had to explain that it was “Hayzuze” and not “Jesus” before she got it :emoticon-0103-cool:

Yeah I see your point, but a question of ruthlessness over sentiment I guess, ifs and buts - what if the scoreline was 0-0..? Would you back him to score or want him to pass? Game of fine margins. Plenty of times this season Man City have squared across the box for an easy tap-in even when 2/3 up.

Mauricio said Austin had been training better in the last couple of weeks. In Charlie's interview, he was asked the usual trouble-making question about making a point to the manager who hadn't been selecting him....but he didn't rise....just said he'd been working harder in the last couple of weeks. I'm guessing that Charlie and Mauricio had had a conversation and Austin had listened and knuckled down.

If it was 0-0 then I would've been calling for him to pass. You can see afterwards when Pickford makes the save Long shrugs his shoulders at JWP with a smile and says (I think) "I had to". Man City dothat because they are coached that way and they get so many opportunities I doubt any of them are going so long without a goal. Also when I have watched Man City it is players like Sterling/KDB/Sane/Silva x2 making those square balls, Aguero and Jesus will take the shot on ie it is the attacking midfielders looking for the pass and strikers shooting in dangerous areas. Long is, allegedly to some, a striker.

And with an ounce of luck the GK would have pushed it into JWP's path. Long is a striker and he had a chance...and as said, it wasn't 0-0.

This has probably already been said, but "the embarrassment on national TV" was all felt by the blue half of Merseyside....:emoticon-0136-giggl

The buildup in the 1st and 4th goals really is exquisite. Poor Pickford screaming at his defense for every goal!

Really enjoyed that. Haven't got much to add (coming so late to the thread), but there's one thing I wanted to put out there.

The fact that Redmond was not on the pitch seemed to improve us in so many ways (Tadic not played out of position, Boufal and Berty developing a great partnership on the left, etc.). However, for me, the team just seemed, I dunno, happier - almost as if taking away Redmond, and his constant berating of team mates, improved the spirit with which we played.

I've only just thawed out, so it's entirely possible that this observation was brought on by brain freeze...

Yeah, we played more purposeful football yesterday than we have all season.

The Redmond issue is a strange one, he had a decent season last year and even got selected for England, I don't understand why he has lost his way so much this season.

So true. I'm absolutely not a Redmond 'hater', and kept hoping to see him take that step up that we've seen from, say, Boufal. He's obviously got (had?) some talent - perhaps we're not the club that's going to unlock it for him.

Redmond would have been gutted not to play yesterday, but it was the right call. Hope his time in the stands helps him really knuckle down & kick on. The next time he plays, he really needs to produce. Suddenly there's pressure for places. Amen.
