He went over on his ankle. When you see it on televisio, you'll see it was nasty. He did well to stay on.

He cost Everton £40m so he would be expected to get a goal or two.

Well, I gave a list of things that I wanted to see happen earlier in the week. jWP got his shot and was outstanding in place of Redmond (he can stay on the bench). Tadic played left and his interchange with Bertrand was back-and brilliant. Hodgepodge stepped up and was industrious and effective. Our crossses into the box weren't just better but there were 3 players in there waiting which gave Austin a chance which he took. The team as a whole looked up for it, played like a team and looked happy. More than half of my moans were addressed so. Can't complain. And I finally have a game that I can sit and watch with my boys!

I would bring lemina in for Wednesday but otherwise an unchanged side all things being equal.

We'll see. The BBC highlighted his 'mighty engine' and performance, which I believe constitues more than a 6.

Anyway, back to my contribution. Finally found a 90+ minutes, and I have to say that until the first goal goes in Everton were trying. They were poor but they were trying. This was exactly what I was asking earlier. They left gaps at the back because they were trying to make a game of it. It's a bit disappointing that people can't see this. However, I'm upto the point where Tadic has scored. What a lovely fast move that was. Hojbjerg was involved and Bertrand arrows a through pass for the assist. Tadic, as usual is totally fine with his execution when he doesn't have time to think about it. :)

Now back to the rest of the first half.

such a change to see bodies on their area on a break, much more energy and directness about the team today. pierre must keep his place, mario comes on for davis and romeu comes in as sub. players on the fringe must be given their chance after they play a blinder covering for a first team player, or they will soon feel that they will never be given a chance

Oh yeah, [I've paused the game] I must also point out a pass that Wesley made around 15 minutes. It was a shot-pass and he bulleted it across the pitch to Cedric. It arrived right on Cedric's foot. Astonishing accuracy.

The first thing you have to notice about the first goal is Boufals defensive contribution and the pass down the line, which opened the move up.

Amazing what happens when Tadic isn't being asked to play on the right wing.

Which he's been doing whenever he's been on the pitch this season. Not everyone chooses to see it though. The lad will be a star.

Of course, very soon after the goal, Everton lose Baines to injury and bring on Williams in a back 3 cum 5. It tightens them up for the rest of the first half, it appears.

He was actually better at linking defence and attack.

Cedric had a nasty stud gash in the first half, slowed him down for about five minutes.
