If you mean when Hughes went in late on Manquillo? in the corner I think the ref may have sort of played an advantage as it was preferable to just take the goal kick than to have a free kick right in our own corner. Glad I couldn't make it to the match in the end.
Vent your frustration, but let me have the right to challenge it. I have no problems with your comments, it's the whole point of the forum. But also accept you will find people disagreeing. I hate Ashley, I don't think he'll save us, he will ruin us. But I respect the efforts of Rafa and that is what I'm clinging to.
Oh no don’t get me wrong I am fine for you to challenge it buddy. It’s all love in here. I’m just angry at the way in which our club plods along with total carp and the twat that owns us is going to make money again. I’m losing faith with football if I am honest.
I appreciate Rafa has tried 4-4-2, plenty wanted him to show more attacking intent, and we have... unfortunately we can't score more than we'll concede. That being said, as much as I think Joselu is awful, it's Dwight Gayle that will need to be dropped. Mitrovic to start, 4-5-1, with Merino and Shelvey in the middle. Hayden and Diame are crap.
The more I watch football, and work, the more I think managers have little overall impact on the final outcome. Aside from focusing on certain areas, which inevitably leave others neglected, it's the players, and their talent and work ethic which determine outcome.
Bingo. The manager needs to organise them, try to coach and improve them and create an atmosphere of hard work, but it's mostly about how good your players are.
Now, you're just getting silly. The commentators remarked how quiet Richarlison had been just before the end of the first 45, which is who Yedlin was primarily marking. Yedlin and Ritchie, likely as part of the gameplan, were on a mission to block or deflect all crosses, even at the expense of yielding corners. This makes since, given where the goals came from last week, and because Lejeune is much more reliable on set peices, than in the run of play. And Watford has struggled with set peices this season. Watford played three in the back. When the wing-back joined in the attack, Ritchie often directed Yedlin to take the widest player, who seemed hesitant to leave Richarlison and his defensive position in the back line. Despite this hitch, he always managed to cover the distance and very few, if any, crosses reached their intended target. A long hopeful cutback delivered to the top of the penalty area is hardly the fault of any wide player. Now down two at home, I'm sure Benitez told Yedlin, one of the more creative influences in the side, to bomb forward in the scond half. Beyond that, the guy has a 24" vertical leap.
I'm never more hopeful now than I have been in the last 6 years mate. I appreciate your point and FFS Ashley feels like he will never leave, even now. But it feels like the light is at the end of the tunnel in a way that it never has in the last decade. Let's just pray and hope it's coming. For now we have Rafa, a guy who's won the CL twice and he's managing this ****ty little team that makes a joke of itself on a tri-monthly basis. I'm grateful as pathetic as that sounds. I know what you meant, and its obvious you know the point of the forum so hope it didn't sound patronising! I just enjoy two people having a difference of opinion and putting forth their reasons why. I wouldn't bother coming on if it wasn't for the conversation like ours today!
Gayle is a curious one, has started like fire in both games but quickly petered out before the 45. I know his second touch was ****, but choosing that turn was pure sublime. There CAN be a clinical player in there but there's so many integers like form/fear of injury and the pressure of no.9, currently going against him, that I'm not sure he can turn it around. He will do a championship team on the front foot a world of good this Jan.
In agreement on this like. I think our capitulation was down to the defence acting like they were still managed by Mclaren rather than an oppositional tactic. I think the joke midfield that is Diame and Shelves not tracking back caused the first goal, the defenders stuck to their respective jobs until then. We're begging for the return of a barker like Lascelles. That attitude and its effect on those around him is of unparalleled importance to our success this season.
We won't can't even compete at home to Watford, can't wait for Chelsea Away, Arsenal Away and Man City Home. Some players think they are better than they are.
Extremely disappointing today, however it's not all doom and dispondency, someone in the pub has just told me that I'm well fit for my age...
Jealousy is not a particularly endearing trait. She sidled up to me at the bar and said " my friends think I look like Victoria Beckham, would you like to buy me a drink " I said " you're twice the girl she is, she's 8 stone and you're 16 stone so f@ck off and get your own drink ya fat bastard "
