Agreed, but it does also highlight a weakness in his game that’s been apparent for ages and restricts our options.... help him, yes but he has to show more himself.
Just watch Trippier. Hugs the touch line, receives the ball then passes it slightly backwards inside for him to face a parked bus. How’s he expected to create? Teams already plan to make life difficult for him as they know his quality, let alone when we don’t help him out.
Anyone who is surrounded and frustrated is going to struggle. We rely on him to create, but tie his hands behind his back.
I thought it looked like Sanchez had sort of got to the position where he could have got the ball but he seemed weirdly indecisive. As for the rest of the game: Well now we don't even have the luxury of them having to come out more if we score one. Bus parking and time wasting to overcome twice now.
Who ever said they aren’t parking the bus needs to count the 10 men who are no further forward than the edge of their box.
We really do have to be able to break down these kinds of teams, or we are never going to compete with City. Isn't this why we bought Llorente? Where is out Plan B
True - it's just that sometimes we're so slow moving the ball forward that teams are able to set up in defence well enough that we just can't break it down. It's just that basic defending and organising can be good enough to stump us.
Awful first half. Son the only one who looks up for it, creating something on his own to try and give West Brom something to think about, with no central space whatsoever. Not gonna see any changes at half time, but this lack of plan to break down buses parked at Wembley is getting monotonous. Same every week.
