Why have we become so picky all of a sudden?? We've just got promoted, in a relegation fight, why the hell would we not want Barton or Wright Phillips?? This boards gone mad!

Because there are other options out there who would either be better for the club or money better spent.

I agree, Barton would be a last resort player for me. Plenty more cards in the deck.

I'm with Papa , forget about what these people are like off the pitch , why on earth would you not want swp , parker , cole and barton playing down at LR. Barton is a very good standard PL player being tracked by the top clubs , if we could attract him for next to nothing that would be a fantastic bit of business.

SWP good player, would be happy to see him. I imagine Warnock is looking for someone to allow Adel a free role in the middle of the park rather than out on the wing and also be another attacking outlet. Unfortuanatley i don't think he is worth blowing the whole budget on, NW has stated he wants 4/5 players, surely 10m would dig too big a hole in the budget !

Wright-Phillips was definitely better in his prime but it is hugely frustrating to now be chasing a similar style of player having turned away Routledge a few weeks ago. Wayne could have been settled in and firing on all cylinders had Ecclestone has even a smidgin of consideration for the club. At 30 and with a family settled in the North West Wright-Phillips will be tempted to stay in the Manchester area unless our offer is too good to turn down and that would not be justified IMO.

What would you prefer, Barton gobbing off on the pitch, SWP´s old man gobbing off in the director´s box, both or none of the above??? - Remember the old man a few seasons ago???

Much prefer Barton. SWP has always been over rated his dad is a racist twat. He is not worth it. He's a winger who has never mastered the art of crossing a pull.

The SWP of about 5 years ago when he was at City first time round would have been worth while but not so sure now. I am a tad sceptical that it would be a box ticking job on behalf of the manager and new owner, same as if we are really trying to get Joe Cole too.

Established premiership players I agree but they have been subject to gigantic transfer fees and wage demands over the years and I'd rather shore up the defence. To stay up I reckon we need to do a bit better than Gabbidon and not look to get shot of Gorky.

Flashy players are great but we've already got our own and Adel cost us fookall. A couple of wing backs would be great, shame we couldn't keep hold of Kyle Walker.

I'm guessing he's in the Royal Navy, North - especially as the location is Portsmouth :)

I thought the term was spelt matelot? Either way a better nickname than a "Jack"!

Definition of Matlow from the "Urban Dictionary":

"Nick name for sailor (17-30ish ) in the British Navy (not a submariner).
Tends to spend a lot of time in Plymouth and Portsmouth.
Likes to drink a lot and pull (snog, shag) any Shaz, Tracy or Janner they find."

Obviously the urban Dictionary is high class!
