I was convinced that Everton would be the surprise package this season and had no inkling that they would miss Lukaku so much. They have assembled a costly and talented squad yet have underperformed spectacularly so far. Regardless of you they get in to manage the club, I would be surprised if they are still in a relegation battle come May

I always feel that Everton are a bogey team for Saints.and I suppose this is as good a time to play them as any. Until the squad is enhanced in the transfer window, I am not expecting a miracle recovery in form and think it will be 1-1.

We need to get into them from the first minute. So important. Get one, heads drop, Long stands a chance of maybe, might, possibly getting a assist.

 

And "get at them" has to mean "make a genuine attempt to score goals". Everton may allow us the ball for the first fifteen minutes, as many teams have; don't make the mistake of wasting that time passing it around languidly in the assumption that you'll have a whole game of such.

Who knows, maybe with our entire CM potentially being unavailable, this could be the game where - through little design of our own - we're forced to play the ball forward whether we like it or not.

Then again, if Davis isn't available, then that is a huge problem, given how I'm so often told that Saints play well when Davis plays well.
