It is all down to the ref's discretion, it seems. here are the rules: How do referees keep track of how long an injury takes? There's two people, one of the assistants and the fourth official. As soon as the physio or trainer comes on, they will monitor how long they are on the pitch. Does he stop his watch or just note what time the injury has happened? He doesn't stop his watch, no. It's just a case of monitoring their watch; they never stop the watch. Is 30 seconds added on for each substitution? As a rule of thumb, yes. But if a player is doddering, meandering, then extra time can be added. And it's the same for red cards, yellow cards as well. Is the clock stopped for goals? No, it's not. But they do add time (to cover celebrations). It's around 30 seconds as a rule of thumb, unless they spend five minutes celebrating. Every situation is different, they'll take each one on its merit. How do referees account for time-wasting? That's discretionary. It has to depend on the situation. When does he let the fourth official know how long he wants added on? It's usually about two minutes before the end of each half. So, where did he find an extra 5 mins tonight, any injuries?
What a turgid dull performance again!! Thing is we do actually have quality when we put our mind to it we just prefer to try to grind a result out. Trouble is by the time Mick leaves half of these players will have forgotten how to play football!!
You know the feeling I get after watching us play is that we're not a bad team. It's not a team made up of average players but a team made up of players being made average by the manager. I'm always left thinking there's more in this team but it's stifled by the tactics..frustrating
I don’t agree with you fellas I thought it was decent performance tonight. Just wish we hadn’t stop playing at the end, trying to be clever up their end of the field.
Should've gone for another goal, Wednesday were on the ropes and didn't offer a big threat but we didn't attack in the closing stages and headed for the corner instead. Not the type of football I like. Garner, poor sod, doesn't have a trick in him but is good at earning free kicks and is quality at falling over
Performance wasn't bad but there is so much more in this team. Can't wait for Mick to be gone and to see what somebody else can do. Obvious time wasting normally equates to long injury time, we've only got ourselves to blame for the 5 minutes. Stupid tactic.
Well after 15 games without a draw, 2 in a row and both 2-2 Last minute goal in each game too. Impressed with Town watching them play in a full match on the T.V since the Derby. Connelly very good in midfield and we look a threat up front.
We gave Sheffield a really hard time tonight, gave them no time on the ball forced them into errors. Sears looked lively I thought, great pass from Huws but he clearly needs more match time and if the ref spotted the early challenge on McG it could’ve been an easier night. Always feels worse dropping points right at the end!
Feels like a defeat and we shouldn't have fannied around with it in the corner! Like London buses you wait for a draw for ages and then two come along at once!
Certainly not the worst performance I've seen but equally frustrating. We've got good players and are capable of opening teams up we just see to little of it in a match. We're very one paced, not enough movement and too much running down blind alleys. With the type of players we have we could do so much better on the ball
Even though poor Sears looks a shadow of his former self, his movement is so much better than McGoldricks and it opens up space for other players. I'd like to see Waghorn and Sear play upfront in a 2
