I honestly don’t see the point in sacking a manager who has used the first 12 games to assess the squad he has ahead of a key transfer window. His philosophy on how the game should be played is not far from MP1 - he needs time to implement it. I personally think he should have stamped his style right from the off but can see why he did not want to alienate the dressing room. I’m quite sure Saints will give him at least to the end of the season no matter what.

Out of interest, where do you think we would finish if we did that?

Completely agree. Before Puel was appointed I'd hoped we would make a move for Slavisa Jokanovic, plays attacking football with a high press and, as evidenced by his move to Fulham, isn't afraid to get the youngsters involved (iirc he gave Ryan Sessengon (?) his debut at 16 he then went on to play throughout the season). Not sure he'd be wonderful coming in mid-season especially given our attacking weaknesses, but perhaps he'd be willing to re-open the pathway to the first team for our youngsters and we'd see more of the likes of Hesketh around the first team. More than anything we need a manager who can give belief and confidence to our players. Puel wasn't able to do that, and it looks like Pellegrino lacks that ability too.

Difficult question to answer. If he starts to impose himself we could still have a top half finish. If he fannies around as he has done it will be a relegation battle (at least we’ll see some more academy players in the championship!). On balance, we’ll probably finish about where we are now which not be undeserved.

I see no point in sacking MP until we have lined up a new manager ready to take over almost immediately. Just look at the damn mess Everton have got themselves in

Interested. in what way do you think he has been fannying about? I see and hear a manager with one plan and one plan only. No experimentation, not mixing up formations or line ups as he searches for the formula. He doesn't seem to be searching for anything.

The first home game of the season was positive, remember commenting that there were hardly any passes back to Forster, unless forced. By the WHU match we were regressing to Puel style.
