The Culture team don’t seem to have released any details of how the year is going to be closed, or have I missed it?
I reckon it'll involve a doll on some straw, with sheep, donkeys and people in bed sheets, and everyone wondering what myrrh is and why Frankenstein's involved.
Apparently there’ll be no “closing ceremony” as such, the idea is that 2017 never ends (in spirit or something).
A bit odd then as 2017 actually ends on the 31st December, but I know we hold it until 2021 so maybe that’s the big sign off day
This been up yet? https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2017/nov/19/what-next-hull-year-uk-city-culture-2017
Maybe wrong thread but here goes. Yesterday afternoon I went to the New Theatre, Mrs Ref didn't want to go, to watch the show based on the songs of Carol King. The title of the show Beautiful sums up my opinion of the production, add to that, fantastic, brilliant, marvelous and any other superlative you can find. The whole cast were fabulous, the singing, first class, as I was mesmerised for 2hrs by the music from my era. But the girl who played 'Carol King' what a voice, and the songs, It might as well rain until September, Take good care of my baby, Up on the roof, Locomotion, You've got a friend, and more. Full value for my £26, I haven't enjoyed a show so much as from seeing Celine Dion in Las Vegas, this show came close, very close.
Brilliant stuff I’m going tomorrow night with Mrs Tash Must be good because my Mum, who goes to literally every single event in Hull (!), text me late late last night to tell me how much she’d loved it. Really looking forward to it now
Enjoy Dennis, there's a break half the way through, but I have been looking online to see what seats are left, I thought that the show was worth a second look.
I believe that’s called an interval Actually I always deliberately refer to it as ‘half time’ whenever we’re there. Plus side is you can order and pay for your drinks beforehand and they’ll leave them on the side for you
