Did Stephen Ireland actually play during that ridiculous loan period?

He came on as a sub and didn't make a big impact.
Injured in training IIRC and was returned to sender!

Yeah, he did 2 sub appearances vs Manure and then the next game, before injuring himself again.

He was on a pay-as-you-play deal though, so it hardly cost us anything.

I think I can remember one sub appearance, but that may have been a pitch invader.

came on as a sub, got injured, never played again for us.
Then I think he had a go at us in an interview.

But he was on a pay as you play deal.

Stephen Ireland is a ****. This is what he said when he arrived:

It's a massive relief to be here. For the last 18 months, I haven't felt part of anything. The team spirit, the team itself; I haven't felt like I've belonged to it. I felt a bit like an outcast at times, which was difficult of course for me personally.

When he realised Pardew didn't want the sack of ****:

I got sent to Newcastle basically against my own will. I came here as a new signing, and I was here to play every second of every game. I came here really determined and wanted to kick on.

I'm glad Pardew didn't get him after he didn't really want to be here anyway and he got injured before every game despite doing **** all.

Tbh I doubt he is interested in football anymore, seems like one of those players who just wants the money. Being as talented as he is he should be playing all the time but it looks like he can't be bothered anymore.

Not surprising considering that he packed International football in because he couldn't handle the banter from his team mates about his bald head.

Good player but always thought he was a major titmonkey. A proper ego driven tool.

When he's on form or when he can be bothered, I'm not sure which true in his case, he's outstanding. From what I've read about him, he's not the nicest of people, bit of a **** to be honest, and he really p'd me off when he said he never wanted to come to Newcastle. Did we need to know that, definitely something that he should've kept to himself.

We're all forgetting he managed to make a right tit of himself, Leon Best and Stephen Folan aswell.

When he almost scored the winner against Manure I almost jumped for joy and forgave him for being injured the whole time, but alas he ****ed up the finish and sent it wide.
Bit of a twat really and I reckon he may regret his decisions in later life.
He's clearly very talented at football and could have went down in history as one of the better players Ireland has produced (no George Best, but probably on the same level as the likes of Shay), but he's got a stinking attitude so everyone will be left wondering what could have been.

    <laugh>

that brightened my day, thanks for that. You should do stand up. <ok>

On the bright side we had Ireland on a pay as you play basis so didn't cost us a great deal, I had high hopes for him when he came to us but had injuries and went on the lash when he should have been doing his best to get fit and get in the team.
