Not on current form we won't, or we will at least be in the battle. Look at who we've played ffs... and we play City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and United before new year. Throw in a tough home game to Everton next week and a trip to Bournemouth in two... We never look like scoring and always look like conceding, not a good combination.
Yeah. The scary thing is that, the further we fall down the table, the more our pool of potential replacements thins. Now, one can still find a good manager (we were 16th when we appointed Poch, I believe) down there, but we're an increasingly unattractive proposition.
Can blame Les Reed for that. I'd suggest though that the power he has built up means that he is largely untouchable now, unless the Chinese owners actually want to get their hand involved (as opposed to just turning up with home games against Man Utd).
Yet it was a mere 17 months ago that the job was the most attractive it had been in a generation. Shows how quickly things can change in this league, hopefully it proves to some fans that a few years in the top 8 doesn't make you a top 8 club too.
Maybe some in the media will turn their attentions to our slump now. Gone under the radar for a while for those outside Southampton. Today has been shocking.
You'd have thought seeing us today and home to Watford alone would show him that we're a pretty poor side this season!
Basically what Leicester fans thought too. Few bad decisions later and they have Puel, who I think will do ok with them.
3-0 is not a measure of how Liverpool have improved. It is a measure of how Saints have failed to improve. Indeed, it is enough to say that we have gone backwards.
Indeed it has. But WBA still lead the way on that front, whilst Swansea are at risk of turning into the next Sunderland. I also wouldn't want to be the loser of Palace-Everton, if there is one.
Chelsea fans must be so delighted, at seeing how they have improved so many of their rivals attacks! City, Liverpool, Utd. (Also goes to show that we're not alone in having a strong scouting department. It's just we then play our signings, rather than loaning them out and ultimately selling them again.)
It's been a few years since i've posted on here..... What a pile of crap! They have totally lost their way!
January is going to be miserable. after the inevitable train-wreck that will be the next 10 fixtures VVD is going to rain-hell to push through a transfer and will probably spend another 3 weeks sulking if it doesn't happen. In response to calm Saints nerves we'll sign another defensive-midfielder to solve our goal-scoring problem.
