Their time was up, it was only a temporary installation. Edit: Actually, it does look like it's come down early, it was originally announced as being there from 1st Oct to 31st December.
Never saw them in the flesh so to speak, but from the pictures I saw they didn't do a lot to enhance the area.
Totally agree, a massive opportunity cast aside on the hills of the Allam's ego and spitefulness. Pathetic is the right word, and not the only one.

The Methodist Modern Art Collection Battered and Berthed pop up gallery in Princes Quay is really excellent. On until end of the year. Event organised by Believe in Hull to celebrate City of Culture.
Aye I know. I had to check back the original article to spot that cos I though I was getting whooshed. Just a joke at the expenses of utility companies that have a history of digging up expensive paving and replacing it with tarmac.
KR were one of the Bid Angels that helped win us the thing in the first place and they had a City of Culture kit, no idea if FC have had any involvement.
Yes I was rather non plussed by them. Might have been different if they' been lit up. Anyway they can' t get everything right and I applaud them for trying
They never put them back exactly how they were either, they make a night mess of them normally. In Japan when they repair a road or dig up for utility work, after they are finished you cannot see where the repair took place, with a little more care they could do the same.
I remember when Japan had the earthquake the other year it completely destroyed a road. It was completely repaired a week later It showed you the 2 pictures in the paper. We would have spent weeks assessing it then weeks repairing and somebody would have made a fortune in the process.
