The goal he scored against us in that game is probably the greatest moment of genius I've seen at our new ground. Made us look daft.
Yeah but Fossy thinks he's going to be world class and 'one for the future' so that can't count, surely?
Considering our size and budget at the time, has to be Nathan Ellington. The club record at the time at £3.25m, for 5 goals in about 50 appearances. He was useless! Jury is still out on Andre Gray at the moment...
... that's Demarai Gray ... I can see why you might have got confused ... it's because you are a stupid cnut ...
Gokhan Inler ... very good technically but arrived at the wrong time as we rampaged to the EPL title ... poor lad should have gone somewhere like Liverpool, where he would have walked unto the midfield ...
Nampalys Mendy is a good one. Tried to get him but couldn't so we had to make do with N'Golo Kante. When Kante became the player he is we went back for Mendy, signed him for 13m and he's played 7 times for us. I met some French blokes in a bar in Porto and they said that he was a superb player and that they'd come to Porto from Nice specifically to watch him. We were subsequently gubbed 5-0 and he didn't get a kick.
Didn't mean to #rattle you Fossy. I know who Gray is ffs! He's the skinny inconsistent lad. Musa is the flop. Slimani anyone?
...the only thing rattling will be a couple of calcified ear wax globules in your hollow bonce ... Alberto Aqueduct anyone ...
That baffled the **** out of me. How Aquilani joined the club, didn't play due to injury, yet the Liverpool fans gave him an endearing nickname and he became a fan favourite, despite never even putting on a Liverpool shirt, then when he did, he sucked copious amounts of balls, and was completely turd. Easily pleased them lot.
Might have just been the melon headed idiots on the forum I inhabited at the time. (Football Matters, was on off branch of 606, started by disgruntled 606 posters when ALL comments became subjected to Pre-moderation). They called him Aquaman and were loving him, for doing exactly nothing. Its not like he was even charismatic, like Klopp for example, he was dull as ditchwater, yet there were those spooging themselves.
I don't know anyone that thought he was a 'fans favourite' but I have heard him being called Aquaman, probably because it's easier to say/spell than his real name. He was really **** (and always injured) hence hardly getting a game. Bizarre signing and definitely a #flop. But I wouldn't believe everything you read mate, no way was he ever a fans favourite, I'm guessing they were taking the piss. If anything people may have been annoyed that Lucas was getting a game before him (back when Lucas was unfairly treated as our scapegoat).
Yeah I remember that, everyone hated Lucas for such a long time. Then there was a complete 180!! I always though he was decent. He was certainly better than Jordan Henderson
Lucas showed excellent professionalism to do what he did. He got moved here as a young kid that played as an AM, didn't speak the language, had never been away from home. Came to us and had a dodgy start, learnt a new position, got badly treated as a scapegoat for years by most fans and a lot of pundits. A lot of people would have jacked it in and gone somewhere else or back home at that point. He just trained hard and became an excellent servant to the club for about a decade. Everything about him oozed professionalism and it all paid off. He's a player I have a huge amount of respect for. He will go down as a fans favourite, and rightly so imo.
