We are not going to get a top class well established manager with the money we are going to pay. I think kranka will do us a job Probably he’s all we can afford.
Thing is though if we try and cheapskate our way out of trouble we could drop another league, I'm hoping Short is going to get someone decent in.
Big Sam - Ellis should be busting his gut to get him in!! If it's Karwanka - I'm finished till he's gone. Just a thin Spanish waiter!! Bart
I've gone for hurst but would be happy with any of the young up and comjng hungry managers that have been mentioned from league one or two. Not bothered about experience in the division, being a right **** to be able to deal with the dressing room or even having any link to the club or it being a manager to get everyone excited. We just need someone who can work with the players we've got on the training ground to get us playing in a balanced functional way and we'll start climbing the table because we have quite a few good players at this level.
In Shorts defence, and I know I will get shot down here, but I think he has chosen pretty well in the past, all or most have done OK at first and then nose dived, just why, so many seemingly decent managers have failed so quickly is a mystery. Moyes being the exception to the rule, apart from Tel, most thought he was a decent choice after Big Sam's desertion, but this was soon dispelled by the manner of the man himself, all the blame cannot be laid at Shorts door imo., and he needs to get this one right, the poll indicates just how difficult this will be. I voted Pearson hoping he will bring in new back room staff , but can we afford it. If not an untried lower division manager looks likely, and we are back to square one, the magic carpet has turned into a prayer mat.
Youre talking like he's a non league manager. His 3 years as assistant manager at Real Madrid alone trumps most of that lists achievements. He was chosen by the best manager in the world to be his right hand man at the best club in the world. The he went and turned round a sinking ship in Boro. If not the obvious choice Paul Lambert till the end of the season with an option to extend depending on how it goes. Paul Heckingbottom. Just read that he only had a 12 month rolling contract at Barnsley which might appeal to Short & Bain. Pearson was high on my list in the summer but he's only recently took a job so I dont think he'll be in the frame. Plus rumours were we spoke to him in the summer so either he turned us down or we chose Grayson over him lol. Phil Neville? I'd rather eat ****. He has no claim to this position and is the most boring uninspiring man I've ever heard speak. Cook with Peter Reid ticks a few boxes and the Reidy factor would bring some fans back on board. I don't think he'd be looking to leave Wigan though having only taken over in the summer. Paul Hurst. Promising young coach. Don' think it's the right time. Very much a summer appointment.
Can’t disagree. I’ve actualky been happy or at least satisfied with every appointment, even Grayson whilst not great seemed justified. It’s whats been done behind the managers that’s failed the club. Short did back them. Short backed Keane, but the people doing he contracts ****ed up and that’s handicapped us for years and brought us to here. Short has failed with his staff on the financing and budgeting side more than the managers themselves. It’s still farcical on his part for a multi billionaire, self made no less.
