Him as much as anyone. Arf And that's Adam the great pr man. In private he was pissed off they way the council dragged their feet.
Just found this - never realised it was Dr Pearson - although only silly ****s call themselves Dr with an honorary degree 19th January 2004 HONORARY DOCTORATE FOR HULL CITY CHAIRMAN Top-of-the-table Hull City are aiming for Division Three honours at the end of the season. But club chairman Adam Pearson will be receiving an honour of a different sort when he attends a University of Lincoln awards ceremony this week. Mr Pearson, who has overseen the revival of Hull City since he took over as chairman two and a half years ago, is to receive an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration at Hull City Hall at 2.30pm on Friday 23rd January. “I am extremely proud and delighted to accept the honorary doctorate from the University of Lincoln,” he said
There's one thing that sticks out through all this, how inept the council of the day were leaving so many gaps and grey areas for a ****ing football club owner to play with.
'and this is as much down to me as anyone' That in no way suggests the council didn't play a major role in the development not happening, Adam is just genuine enough to acknowledge there was more that all parties could have done.
It's been evident for years that several authoritative bodies are really underprepared for people like the Allams. The FA, Premier League and Football League all have huge gaps in their rules on big issues, simply because they don't expect anyone to try and force through a name change or remove all concessions. The SMC lease as you say is another example where it relies heavily on basic decency.
Should who cleans and tidies and looks after what all be set out in the lease? And therefore nowt to argue about?
Come on Bob, be fair here. Prior to the Allams, there's never been a single unscrupulous business owner in Hull or the ER, or owner of Hull City, ever, so how on earth could they have been prepared for this?
Yes, it's not really very reassuring is it for these massive authorities to leave such simple gaps for the ruthless rich elite exploit. What I find most alarming is the institutional racism by just assuming people of African descent would never reach such a lofty status that they would have to deal with them.
I was always under the impression (and this from a talk I had 10 years ago whilst studying BTEC Business Studies) that the “triangle” was the responsibility of the council other than on event days where the responsibility lied with the SMC.
Come on, Happy. Unless my sarcasm detector's broken you seriously need to, wait, hang on... who's broken my sarcasm detector?
Today once again the Allam family has asked for the full original lease relating to the stadium to be released, the previous obstruction to this happening was Adam Pearson at the time of "picturegate" when he was challenged to waive his right to confidientality. Adam Pearson is of course the owner of Hull FC a current tenant of the SMC and is also the previous owner of Hull City... the original owner of Hull City at the time of the stadium opening. So, at long last the terms of the lease may get into the public domain and people will be able to make up their own minds as to what went wrong, at what point and why. All parties involved would have to be agreement and lets hope that they are. IF? this stadium belongs to the people of Hull as members of HCC have recently claimed, then surely at this point in time the rate/council tax payers should be able to see under what terms and conditions at the very least.
