Morning all, it is grey and damp, so no overnight frost. Been changing a light bulb that blew last night. As it is high up in the roof it was a ladder job. I bought a new fluorescent strip about four years ago as I thought the one in place was on the way out, but it is still working. You see that a light bulb is supposed to work for X number of hours, but how do you manage to see if it lives up to the promise?
It says a lot about the UK government too - 20% is little more than a money grab from those who can least afford it. Australia's rate is 10% with, like here, exemptions on food.
A late evening stroll yesterday made worthwhile by these... The top one on an old smartphone - the bottom one on a 'proper' camera...
Morning all, rather grey and uninviting outside, but much warmer than the past couple of days. We brought some bulbs back from England last month, and they need to be planted in pots. Also brought back some bulb fibre compost as you cannot buy it out here. The locals use ordinary potting compost, but my trials suggest it is not as good.
Roll on the weekend. I feel the pointless pullout International break has come at a good time for us. Time to take stock, get some defenders back and refresh.
Evening all. It has been damp and dreary all day, so went and did the weekly shop. I managed to get the last bargain buy of some everyday wine. I think that they have been trying to empty the shelves before restocking with much more expensive bottles in time for Christmas. The huge stocks of chocolate have arrived and are taking up plenty of the space. As yet no Christmas music or decorations, rather different to my trip over to the UK at the end of September where there were some outlets fully lit up and decorated.
Sleep well Dave. Has altering the clocks thrown your sleeping pattern into confusion as you are 5 minutes early.
Morning all. Another public holiday today to give people the chance to join at the memorials up and down the country to remember those who died in the two great wars. Every small village and town has a memorial with the names of those who fell, and it can be very sobering to see five or six of the same family name.
Hi all from the himalayas. Sunny and warm in middle of day. But at close to 8000 feet a bit nippy at night. Saw the big snow covered chappies for the first time today (previously very misty). Majestic to say the least. Sad to see the òrns lost. Couldn`t get any reception here for the game but suddenly got a connection and had to order another 1 liter bottle of Tuborg to drown the sorrows. (Why do poor countries import beer when they have plenty of producers of good quality??). Also noted Dave your lot did no better Have seen quite a few street cricket games and in Delhi even fielded at 1st slip for one delivery. Probably just as well the batsman middle it. Sadly still be high up the mountains for the next game and on the flight home for the Newcastle match. But hopefull we get some points before I get back. .
