I went up there for a cup game when it first opened for 1 game, no life, view is no better for the height and a ridiculous amount of stairs. They are up there cos it’s cheap, nowt wrong with that but for them to bleat about it is daft, they’d be getting a free ****ing upgrade. Of course, then folk would whinge they paid extra for their seats below...
Load of ****, the atmosphere is no more than the club deserve/have cultivated by thier own incompetence. Anyone having a go a Sunderland fans needs to pull their head from there arse and look at our performances in the last 5 year and ask if they would feel differently. I'm sick of idiots blaming the fans when those fans have had there souls crushed by the **** they HAVE to put up with.
I'm not blinkered pal, I can see the club has been ran into the ground I've been highly critical of the team, certain players and have been calling for Short to walk for years and years. I've directed my anger to the club via social media but i've never ever abused players online, and I've never abused them from the stands and i've never taken actions to make their already difficult task more. Me an idiot? Opponents are coming out saying it's helping them, how much proof do you need? Ffs
We used to be able to be proud of our support but I think thats gone now, lot of fans staying away and no positive atmosohere being created, hard to claim we have great fans on that evidence. The atmosphere at the stadium has been getting worse over the last few years, some people can't wait to get on the players backs. I understand that people are frustrated with the football that's being served up but if you have no intention of supporting the lads then why bother to go to the match? I just don't get it. Generation of fans are coming through that must be looking and thinking that is the way to support the team, toys out of the pram whinging if we're not winning after 20 minutes or if we go a goal down. ****ing 21st century fans eh killing us
The only piece of rot at the club not to take any responsibility more like. Even Short admits he made mistakes. But no, fans are perfect and walk on water.
I agree just about all of that Bri. But I see it as it should never have came to this rather than it being our major problem now.
In my experience we don't need much to create an atmosphere even using gallows humour but it's far beyond that now
It's one of many problems mate, atmosphere isn't the only problem, I'd dispute that just as much as I'd dispute the fans being faultless. We're riddled with problems. Hopefully it's something that can be corrected with a mini run on the road.
Look at this another way though. Lets say you went to watch your favourite band every other week and paid good money to do so each time but then for a whole year you never actually saw them play a right note or hit the sound and on top of that it was obvious that they couldn't give a **** whilst on stage, would you just keep going and say nothing? Or, would a) stop going; b) let them know your displeasure in a moderate and calm way; c) boo the useless bastards off the stage. I think as fans we are the most patient and forgiving in the land because we've been watching substandard, rotten football for 5 or 6 years now without much protest. At an average of 7 wins a season and ahead at home for only 3 minutes this calendar year is it any wonder that the atmosphere is both toxic and nasty. If this were any other club the fans would be creating holy hell long before now. Its not ideal but its down to the club, the players and the new manager to create a buzz and get the fans back on side, not the other way round as we have been doing our bit for decades without reward.
Bands aren't in direct competition with other bands at the same time though Cest. I bet if you were supporting your band at a battle of the bands you'd get behind them regardless of their performance. I don't believe a single fan would boo their band in that situation.
Every supporter would be like that if they went through what we have, it is ripe other players coming here and saying that though and we do have a divine right to be in the premier league by the way. Man u supporters need a goal to get them going, the boro similar to us, watch if we score first on Sunday to how they react.
If they were constantly ****e for 4 or 5 years off the belt and couldn't give a bollocks about the fans like our lot have been, then I'd absolutely give them pelters mate. No one deserves unrequited love or devotion and there has to be a two way arrangement. Our players are reaping the 'rewards' of their own actions and must be the ones to now rekindle that love by winning football games and actually trying.
No they wouldn’t. Leeds, Man City, Sheff Wed and Norwich have all hit League One in recent seasons and maintained support. We’ve been a **** team in the ****ing Premier League man, they were in the footballing wilderness. We are heading there having already seemingly lost the support, the support that was always the backbone of this club. We were shot for years at Roker, we still made a ****ing racket and backed the lads. There were about 15k of us there on average and we all remember. We were far worse than the last few years and we sang our ****ing hearts out, like that song of ours. **** ‘any club this any club that’ we all pledge our passion, all say we love this club of ours, so why aren’t we doing what we can to stop the decay? All we can offer is our support and unconditional love. People have withdrawn that. I’m not saying it’s not hard, I’m not saying I don’t get it to an extent but I think ya standing up and being counted as fans would be a massive benefit, it’s what we can do, what influence we maybe have. We’ve a dog **** player from a dog **** club telling us how it benefits other teams and we are still crying victim? ****ing behave man. Sky are all over it. How can it possibly help?
We have some absolute (and it's a word I reserve for only people I think the worst if) ****s "supporting" (loose term) our club. Hopefully the idiots that post this get their wishes enacted upon themselves!!
