Okay, I know he splits opinion so hear me out before the tirade of abuse
Firstly, I will own up that I like JOS. He has been here 6.5 years almost and has played nearly 200 games so why he isn't thought of as a part of us by some is perplexing tbh. Hes been here for longer than Julio, SKP and Marco for instance, all of whom are lauded as legends despite having some difficult periods towards the end of their terms here and hes' a model pro. IMO. he has been a great player in his time here, albeit as a veteran now he isn't in his prime but that said, I still think hes the best defender at the club.
He has passed his FA badges and obviously has ambitions to go into management so why not with us? If as suggested by many he controls the dressing room already then he has a head start over any incoming outsider and he will know the players better than anyone. If we were to couple him with an older head like Reidy for the short term then why not give it a try. I reckon he would get the best out of Kone and others and will know who is cutting it in the dressing room and who isn't. No need to experiment as he will know all of them.
I have seen some horror stories emerging like McCleish, McCoist, Rednapp, Brown etc etc and none of those are what we need or want. We dont have money so we cant attract the Allardyces of this world and need to be a little more pragmatic. I also think JOS will have the ear and help of people like Ferguson and such like and is a respected figure in the game and he would be a far better option than some.
I know this will create a bit of controversy and split opinion but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to me.
Any thoughts?
