On a Tuesday! Can only be a good thing!! Thanks go to SAFC for that one!! <applause>

Don't know about you but I feel a very good vibe floating around Sunderland AFC and it's supporters at the moment. I work over in Newcastle and some of the gloomy/shocked faces this morning were a sight for sore eyes! We can always rely on them for cracking entertainment!

The fact we haven't signed a striker in this window doesn't bother me to be honest, Bruce was well aware that there was no value in rushing out and spending over the odds on an average 'stop gap' striker which is all we were ever going to get at this time of year. We've just signed a couple of quality/experienced midfielders who can fill the void while our other strikers get their injuries and fitness levels sorted. Also, Gyan must be relishing the fact he's now our lone striker and I feel he will bang a good few goals in within the next few games (starting tonight hopefully!)

People saying we've endangered our position in 6th and our push for Europe are getting a bit ahead of themselves I feel. It would be absolutely fantastic if we still hold that position come the end of the season however we must remember that the main goal for was a top half finish and we are more than on track to do so.

I feel Bruce still has a couple of Aces to play come the summer months when I suspect he will shop around abroad again to avoid paying some of these ludicrous transfer fee's that we have seen recently. Bruce is building a young team and with a good mix of experience thrown in and given another couple of seasons in charge I think our squad will be in a much better position to challenge and compete in European competitions (not to say we won't get there ahead of schedule!)

As for tonight's match I can't wait to see how little Sessegnon fits into our team and the creativity and flair I'm sure he will add. I think it'll be end to end and just hope we take some of the chances we're bound to create. 1st goal is going to be crucial tonight and if we can nick it I'm sure we'll be in for a treat!! Stick my neck on the line here and go 2-1 us!!

Hopefully it'll be a cracking atmosphere and remember, things are looking up for SAFC!! :emoticon-0137-clapp

Can Torres play tonight? The half man half women is bound to score if he is.

I'm looking forward to it, even if it is a bit of a clart on to get home and then up to Roker for a quick jar before KO. I'd take a draw now like, probably.

I'm not sure, I've heard conflicting stories, some saying he could well play a part in tonight's match others saying he signed too late yesterday to be able to feature ... time will tell I guess.

Deffo unavailable mate, it's on bbc in the match preview that he wasn't registered in time.

I also live and work amonst our beloved neighbours, shock, bemusement and worry seems the order of the day.

Not for me mind, as i boldly predict 2-1 the lads and a double over the reigning champions ;)

I would like to share everyones optimism - but the fact that we dont have any recognised defensive midfielders is very worrying (on the assumption that stories are true and Catts is out)
It does not fill me with confidence to think of Riveros (not cutting the mustard yet) or Colback (very young) up against Lampard & Essien etc. Basically all of the other midfielders that we can put out are attack oriented

Oh well - we can but hope
