Defoe and kranjcar in. Just what I've always said lik[NSFW][/NSFW]e when I said we should sell gyan...
SB may be a decent bloke he does seem so, he may also be a good scout, but I like many question his ability to manage a football team. The case against, we have had two slumps and he has been clueless in getting tactics and spirits up. Our woeful 2nd half displays are back again, he must give the most unmotivational talks of anyone in history the way our team performs in the 2nd half (Liverpool excepted). Yesterday 10 minutes into the second half it was obvious we were not up for the game, SB and Black probably recognised this as they spent the next 15 minutes in a Laurel and Hardy sketch, SB fiddling with his tie and in a panic as to what to do, Black pointing to a board in his hand. After the skunks scored SB just threw forwards on in the hope of snatching a goal. The problems are obvious to most fans who either see the match live or see 90 minutes on TV etc. 1. Sess and Gyan are not going to score a lot of goals, and Ji and Conner W are too young/inexperienced to step up. Selling Bent in Jan without a replacement was a mistake that nearly cost us dearly, and will be again this this season unless another experienced/proven striker is brought in. 2. We have needed a LW for two seasons now, we were outbid for Insomina and still nobody else seems on the cards. 3. Rico is not and probably never will be a LB, either get someone in who is or play MacBardo there. 4. Mig was at fault for the goal, he is not as good as Gordon, do not sell Gordon! 5. Catts is a liability, it was foolish to pick him as skipper, either him or MacBardo gave the foul away that led to the goal. % mins later Catts did a foul that he should have been sent off for. 6. Elmo is not and never will be a RW and will probably never score for us. 7. For 3 seasons now we have lacked big lads at the back and yesterday even Iamadonkey won most balls in the air. 8. Newcastle were obviously a poor side, what does it say about us and all the money that SB has spent that we were beaten by them! Whether MoN is the right man I do not know, but honestly if SB had any respect he would resign, frankly he may be a decent bloke out of his depth in managing a EPL side, so would I be!
If we sell Gyan, we'd still have the same problem as to who to bring in, sell him and we'd two experienced strikers as replacements, twice as difficult.
Sunderpitt Agree with numbers 1, 2, 3, .... actually all of your points with poss exception of No. 4. Not good yesterday, but we DO NOT need wholesale changes in the club. Proven striker IN, Sess to LW, Seb to RW, KR away from LB. Balanced team with players in their right/preferred roles. We're in danger of throwing everything out of the pram!!
I honestly believe this, and have for some time Gyan could cost Bruce his job.... Bruce is over reliant on him, and he is not a frequent scorer. I don't believe he is the right man to build a team around, and he is causing confusion for team selection. Where-as if he was replaced with a different type of forward, a more direct type, it would be easier to bring Ji/Wickham through. I'm not saying he is a bad player, he is a good player, just maybe not right for us at this time, with the players we have..
There is a better manager about to become available, do we go for him, would he actually do a better job, yes I'm talking Jose Mourinho, if we made the right offer he might come to us, if we can't have Steve Bruce we have to get better in his place, a lot of people go on about Martin O'Neil, I don't think he would be the answer
Fair point mate, we do need a frequent goal scorer, and we know 'arry is sweet on him, I can't stand Defoe as a person, but you have to respect him on the footy pitch. Gyan and a few quid for Defoe and that Kranky bloke, would not be a bad little deal. If they throw in Hutton as well then I'd be delighted.
Aye, I had to read that twice. Think the special one is a bit above us the minute, we'd be as bad as the mags if we start to throw his name about.
It's a bloody good idea that like. Maybe we could convince Messi to come to the SOL while were at it.
Okay as mentioned here if not MoN then I'd be more than happy with Moyes but I feel he is waiting foe one of the 4 main jobs to come available and that may well be Man City if Mancini fails to win the title this year. Moyes, MoN..........I think the question is who, not if we should. Mourinho is light years out of our league.
IMO Gyan was not fully fit yesterday and shouldn't have been playing so I'll let him off with that. I've always been a Bruce supporter (and still am) I think the team needs to bed in but Bruce should give Ji, Whickham and that new lad from Derry City who is a left winger a chance in certainly the Brighton game and maybe in the Swansea game. It's a pity the Derby came so early in the season would be talking like this if it was another club. What would make me lose faith in Bruce, I'm starting to but if we fail to sign another proven Prem Striker or a Left sided player then that just might be it.
he lost my support last season no matter who he buys he'll mess it up when he plays his beloved mags. we won't go anywhere under him we need a manager to take us places. Martin Oneil!
Cest you are wasting your time on here bashing Gyan, most of the regular posters think he is the best thing since sliced bread !. No better than Jonesy imo.
Its quite revealing that 40 posts in, there isn't a really convincing argument for Bruce to stay amongst the majority. Even those that say they support the manager, have caveats inserted to question their own judgement. However, there are far more now openly against (myself included) the manager and although this is not a scientific poll, were that level of dissatisfaction to manifest itself over the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see how the club react. I'd say it's about 70/30 in favour of Bruce going and who'd have thought 2 games in there would be that level of feeling against him? I agree the derby games are NOT the be all and end all for sure but for a manager who needed to start the season well, after the shambles of the 2nd half of last years campaign, this result was EVERYTHING for Bruce and he blew it big time. Even another run of form as we did after the 5-1 game isn't going to wash now, as it will only add fuel to the fire he manufactured a defeat against his hometown club after all. Bruce is finished at Sunderland IMO. Its only a matter of the timing now and thats down to Quinn and Short. Make it sooner and we may salvage the season. Leave it too long and the crowds will start to reduce and the relegation struggle will only intensify. What a bloody shambles.
