So, we have Diedhiou out for 3 months, Baker injured again, Paterson (is he injured? Why was he subbed?), plus O’Neil and Hegelar both out long term. On a positive note we seem to have Duric and Pisano back in the nick of time, but we don’t have much wriggle-room if we suffer any more injuries or bans. Is this a ‘crisis’ - should LJ dip into the emergency loan market to buy in cover? I’m particularly concerned about our defence - what if Flint gets injured or banned? Your thoughts......
Re: Paterson, he was out with illness recently & apparently lost a lot of weight, so he's probably just being eased back in. Defence is well stocked - Magnusson being able to play centrally or left back is very useful. Diedhiou is undoubtedly a loss, but a fit Djuric offers a great alternative - his aerial prowess is an option we've been missing. Agreed that we can't afford many more injuries, but we can handle them better than most.
It's only avaialble now for keepers as Plymouth have done recently after their 3 keepers are all ruled out injured.
We'll be fine, Landown has bankrolled the club, it was very different in the past. And anyway every club has injuries, but we're much fortunate than most in the Championship. Don't forget if we get another striker injured, we could recall the £2million Engvall
I don’t think even SLs £millions will be able to do anything if the emergency loans are banned. The only thing we can do apparently is sign an unattached player on a free.
'I don’t think even SLs £millions will be able to do anything if the emergency loans are banned'. R&W - I assure you every team in the Championship will have very similar 'injury concerns'. Or do you think we're unique ? My point is not to be concerned at all, we're 4th and the season will take a toll with inevitable injuries but all clubs will suffer. We're blessed with an owner for the first time in memory who's bankrolled us not to fail.
We go with what we have got until January Would it be such a bad thing to play a youngster like Lloyd Kelly in the odd game?
50% of Championship clubs are on parachute payments. The point I make is Lansdown with his millions has allowed City to compete. 'money is not everything' Of course it isn't, but it helps. Without Lansdown's backing we'd be down amongst the dead men. Surely you don't believe otherwise.
Huddersfield or Brighton didn't have parachute payments, neither did they have a bankroll......Who's to say how it works if you believe it's all down to money!! It's just another quiet dig at Junior while he's doing well and having to wait a little longer for it to end in tears......Just saying!!
SL has bankrolled the club for the last 5-6 years quite heavily, it's only this season that we are seeing the benefits. Perhaps our management team had a plan after all?
