My brother is usually the one to suggest shows to me, but the following came with high praise from him.
Watched Gunpowder on BBC with Jon Snow in it Didn't realise how much he got around in the middle ages Was pretty good though, especially if you like fairly gory execution and torture scenes
Watch out for Britannia on Sky Atlantic soon, has very good write ups from the critics. Set in AD 43 in Britain during the Roman occupation. What have the Romans ever done for us I hear you ask?
Yeah. Really wanted to see that. Not on over here though on Roku from what I can find. Watched Episode 1 on Friday. 1st episode not too engrossing yet... Just setting the scene. Orville I think gets better each episode. Episode 6 funniest episode. Episode 7 this week was the most interesting (least comedic but best story). Actors settled into roles now and doesn't seem quite as cheesy now. Very unbelievable how similar the planet they visited was to earth, but the story was good.
I did that with Tommy with my 18 year old daughter. Told her it was a classic rock opera with a deep and meaningful story. She summed it as "Actors that can't sing, and singers that can't act" I had no answer to that critique to be honest!
