Great match, particularly second half. We made them look ordinary. Smith a great sub, not Sylla's day. Plaudits to our defence. Well deserved 3 points, dead chuffed!
The thing about their goal was that Baptiste shouldn't have let him get near the penalty area. As Nines said, he should have put him in the Paddock.
About how I saw it, every man closing and pressing. Mass Captaining by example had probably his best game for us, probably Robinson, Lynch and Boswell too.
Didn't have time to post last night after I got back - too busy celebrating a surprising but well deserved win. My thoughts: Sylla is not up to standard.............yet. For me, the jury is still out. He tries, but his first touch is awful at times and his pace is deceptive - he is slower than he looks. Cousins had a great game, much better than expected and put in a good shift for the time he was on the pitch. Smithies made some great saves, my only issue is his distribution which at times is piss poor. Mass had a good game and set up some decent moves and his determination got us the first goal. Washington has still not found his best scoring boots and was at times wasteful but did well for his goal. Freeman? Do I need to say anything? Consistently good performances since he joined us. (Wish we could find a striker too!) Overall a really good performance against a free scoring Wolves. Play offs anyone?
Sylla not up to standard? He got our only 2 goals in the last 2 games with great skills in the box and contributed to an excellent team effort yesterday, without getting any chances to score that I remember.
He's certainly improving and he knows where the goal is. He'd be far too expensive to replace so love him or hate him we need him. Would like to see Eze recalled ASAP. The kid has got it.
From what I've seen on the highlights Beth, Babtiste should have taken him out 30 yrds before the penalty area. We'd just scored, it was very nearly half time.................take a yellow and stop the attack. Apart from that I hear that Cousins did OK at wing back without getting forward too much. We really need two decent wing backs to play this system, but hey, a great win.
Against the bottom 2 teams at the time. Against an organised defence like yesterday, he can't cut the mustard and as I said................yet.
Great result for the boys yesterday and hopefully we can continue to move in the right direction. up the R's!
True. But he got It correct this time. We are often very quick to criticise and In this situation we need to praise him. Well done Ollie! p.s. More of the same on Tuesday please!
I really don't want to cast an unnecessary cloud after a thoroughly enjoyable game yesterday but Sylla was clearly the exception to an otherwise great team performance. His first touch in particular was dire the entire game and unlike Washington he never got himself into threatening positions when we came forward. He had virtually given up in the five minutes before he was subbed and it was a relief to see him go off, after which it was no coincidence that is was all QPR for the last 25 minutes. If he's reserving his best performances for away games as you suggest then we need to know why.
Now that is bad (and you all know my opinions of Lynch too). Who we going to play with Baptiste and Robinson (Furlong or Caulker).... .................and who is going to supply Smith with the perfect cross?
One of my workmates had an accumulator on last weekend and stood to win about £2k. The only result not to come in; us v Bolton. Obviously I laughed at him and explained that you should never bet on the Rs.
