Disappointed with the price of Outback Traveller (3.35 Doncaster). With a string of noughts and a 5 against him I thought he might be 20/1. Oh no, 13/2 best price available. Quite a few of his poor runs have been over the wrong distance and/or unsuitable ground. Good run on better ground last time out so maybe he's due a win (won the Wokingham last year, beating Brando in receipt of just 1lb. If he can reproduce that form he should go very close. What could be a negative is that just about every jockey who has ridden him has won on him, but Spencer, who is 0 from 3 on him, gets the ride. Would have been a banker ew for me but, in a 22 runner handicap, 13/2 is far too short for that
Cheltenham thoughts: 2.00 Jabulani (14/1) ran a cracker on hurdles debut at Warwick, running the more experienced The Welsh Paddies all the way to the line after being initially outpaced when the tempo quickened. Should have learnt plenty there and the Twister's grey offers a bit of value in this small field. 2.35 Sceau Royal (6/4) impressed with some slick, low and fast jumps on his chase debut at Warwick and that race should give him the edge over Movewiththetimes today as long as he respects the Cheltenham fences. Not a race to be getting overly involved in from a punting perspective. 3.10 This could go to one of Peter Bowen's horses, but don't ask me which one 3.45 I'm happy to take a chance that the pull in the weights can help Sizing Tennessee (7/1) reverse the form with Black Corton. Beat That will surely need the run and ***an is very short after a hard race last time. 4.20 A pinsticker in which I'll plump for Bertie Boru. 4.55 No reason to oppose Slate House in this, vibes from the Tizzard yard very positive. 5.30 I think the Nicky Henderson / James Bowen combination will be one to follow this season so Cool Macavity at 6/1 gets my vote here.
4.25 Cheltenham ***an 15/8 Ran third here in the Albert Bartlett, give a good horse in Ballyandy plenty to think about when giving him weight on ground he'd have hated and looks to love today's trip. Elliott could lift a couple of races at Cheltenham today (also like Presenting Julio later on) but ***an is the bet of the day.
Think I'd need longer than 13/2 to back Spencer on Frankel! Pint of carlsberg in airport bar, week of sun wasn't a bad idea for an apparent *****
One Forty Seven has been backed from 10s into 4s at Cheltenham after a long layoff. Hyperfocas goes in the ground but has gone up quite alot in the weights, could still be in the mix. @8s First Eleven over at Newbury for Gosden/Dettori combibation, is another Frankel also. Patent and ew treble.
Well lads I need a couple of winners at Donny today though the card looks very very difficult !! So stop what you are doing ... those leaves will still Be on the lawn tomorrow ... and pony me up the winners pleeeeaaassee ?
Ekbalco, let's have a try for you, mate. Hope you are well. How about Key Bid if the 4.10? That's Chester form, got to be worth it Also, the top of the market Outback Traveller in the 3.35 looks very likely. At a better price, perhaps Al Hamdany in the 4.45?
Chelts 3.10, I'm liking the chances of Potters Story 4.20, Indian Castle looks to have a good chance, I'm hoping Good Luck.
Cheers Jakster - I'll have another look with my tea and a couple of pieces of well buttered malt loaf .. with one eye on the rugby league second half !!
Skysports tripped me out then, thought Twiston Davies had a 17 year old making its debut in the 5 30 Cheltenham tomorrow ,was like wtf lol http://www.skysports.com/racing/rac...jockey-club-venues-standard-open-nh-flat-race
