Political threads have also taken their toll on here. certain posters have also taken that way too personally, I don't know why? if we were all stood in room no one would have a clue who we all were (with a few exceptions) What does it matter. Red Robin gets pelters on here. he just ignores it all and keeps posting and good on him. Its just words on the internet for ****s sake.
Must admit, I do get fed up with people still knocking the manager we have in place.....would be better if everyone got behind him. The haters will continue to knock him at every chance...that is the nature of the beast.......But he is the most successful manager since GJ........ That should stir it a bit!!
My posts have probably remained more or less the same frequency tbh but I have noticed a general decline. Like others I am weary of the LJ debate, but it has been the same since he was playing - and it ain’t going anywhere soon. It also hasn’t stopped me posting in general - although I do stop posting on individual threads that descend into a ‘lover’ vs ‘hater’ slanging match. Lack of banter with fans of other teams for me is missing - where is CJS these days? Only Sparky ventures near but none of his fellow sheep-worriers do (although I admit I hardly venture into the Cardiff nor the Gas board myself, so I suppose that makes me a hypocrite....)
FairPlay this thread has pulled in some comments. Just put a general chit chat up every week with a new topic
But it isnt just about Bristol City is it I got into a row with Banksy about Brexit or Tories or something (really cant remember what it was) I came to the conclusion I would be happier not having to communicate with such people, and so I have found alternative areas for BCFC involvement. Now on a football level I am fairly happy with the site, apart from the frequent witch hunts....(how many are embarrased by their treatment of Lee Johnson last season ? (I know I was !) when it seems a lynch mob arrive on cue to relieve our manager-of-the-day of his head. Question: Why are there threads on politics on a football site ? Therein lies craziness... As long as its about football though, it is a necessary point of reference, especially for people who dont live on the doorstep of Ashton gate. (Ask Inver..) Not coming from, or having gone to school in BS3, I have usually felt like an outsider in a private club on this forum, as did my Bermondsey born, lifetime Bristol City season ticket holder dad. Which is a real shame as I have given Bristol City my life over the past 45 years, (and my dear old Dad gave a whole lot more). If you want to know why BCFC Not606 is not so popular, go figure...
I rarely comment on footballing matters as can only very rarely attend games these days and rightly or wrongly therefore don't feel qualified to do so. I do enjoy reading all the comments of others though from whichever perspective and visit the board most days to catch up on posts even when away on holiday or with work. Would like to thank all the MODS we have had and currently have for their time and ongoing efforts. I enjoyed the BC fans premier league BBC predictor game, ( even though i was $hit£ ) it was easy to enter. Guess we can carry on the BBC site. Don't think the international breaks help with activity on the board. I haven't commented on any of the political posts either because I would get far to angry and they are the only ones I don't read. I don't let that colour my opinion of any posters though but concentrate on what they have to say about the football.
Poor ole JGF is going to come back and wonder what’s happened to his sticky post. And then create threads asking about them, after he’s told us how many tonnes of earth he’s shifted .
You weren't missed! I have noticed you have had a little spoilt brat moment with several posters on here because they had the audacity to disagree with you! You want to grow some balls mate.
Often in life its hard to keep everyone happy, we don't have many members that post on this site and I can't see that number getting greater in what ever changes are made to stickies etc, perhaps in the future posters should only post if its worth posting about?
Its a fascinating self-study of human psychology - how some posts, not just on here, but on any forum - and via any form of electronic media, can make you feel SOOOO angry, and yet as Banksy stated earlier; 'its just words on the internet', so they shouldn't have any effect - but they DO - if you let them that is. I have been called various names on occasion, ranging from 'Snowflake' (what is that anyway? - and why am I supposed to be insulted by it?!!!) to more traditional terms of 'endearment' - all for simply holding - and sticking to - an opinion that is contrary to someone else's - whether football-related or otherwise. I have learnt from experience that when I read something that REALLY pisses me off, I need to take a deep breath, walk away from my keyboard for a while and remind myself that it's just words, that's all, before I decide how or whether to respond. I've become used to that, because writing to and dealing with 'strong' characters is 80% of my job at work, so dealing with 'strong' characters on here is nothing new.
I've had a rethink with regard the BBC Predictor thread I was running, I have had some PM's and a couple of mentions on here, I didn't realise but people have been enjoying that compo and league so I will keep that one going , thank's for the contact's..
Thanks Wiz - I was just about to PM you myself! I really enjoy the games so sad to see any go to be honest. Having run one of the comps for a year I know how much work it is - so thanks!!!
Why? It’s being taken off now as I said the other day. It was only left here for people to say their bit.
I never really posted a lot on here before, I just read a lot of the posts and played the comps. I don't go to the games anymore so can't really comment on performances of players or tactics, so I don't bother The reasons I stopped is because last year on here it was post after post about how **** our manager was, and to be honest it got on my tits. I've supported City for over 50 years and always will, living in Hampshire when people ask me who I support, I tell them, and there first response is "WHY" (dads from Bristol and he made me do it). Don't know how to make this forum better but I for one will try and post more because I do enjoy the banter. And catching up on all the things going on with my team.
Good idea brookksyboy, come back and join us because we need more posters to reinvigorate a tired board. I have been on the site since the BBC days and believe I am the only one from Bristol City who's comments were used as a leader headline. This is by far the best way we immigrants get to hear the roar from the floor and to lose this outlet would be a very sad loss in mine and others posters books. If any others lost in the wilderness are browsing our site please don't just stop by on your way to some other place, stay awhile and help us to make this a more active and user friendly site for all Bristol City supporters.
