I agree with what you say and I also said that I didn't like him, and that was the reason why, it was the way he left. My response to the poster was to say that he didn't inherit an already built team, he had to build one

    Ron v Claude

    In 15/16 we took:
    20 pts v Ars/Che/MC/MU/Liv/Tot (6-2-4)
    43 pts v the other 13 (12-7-7)

    In 16/17 we took:
    4 pts v Ars/Che/MC/MU/Liv/Tot (0-4-8)
    42 pts v the other 13 (12-6-8)

The main reason we got so many points in 2016 was that the top clubs abdicated the whole season. The main reason we didn't get so many in 2017 was that we played 53 games. Everything else was marginal compared to that. There was no difference between Ron and Claude.

Unsurprisingly, I've got no ill-feeling towards him (I do towards Everton, but not him*). But even I found myself chuckling at the news.

*It's difficult to like a club who just throw money around, without any thought put into it. Not buying a striker, signing about 100 no.10s, signing CBs who aren't good enough and/or aren't experienced enough, not bothering to sign players with pace, etc. Just totally ill-thought out, whilst trying to make themselves look big. A bit like West Ham. Although I absolutely dislike West Ham more. At least Everton didn't get a free stadium, and aren't run by the dildo brothers (to quote Bilic).

Not sure you can so no difference when your stats shows 17 pts and 16 against the top teams. We may not like him, but he took us to 6th and only a handful of points from top four. In the last 15 games of Koeman reign we thought we would win most games. I remember backing Saints to win at 0-2 vs Liverpool at HT under Koeman, would I have taken that bet under Puel, no chance. How much the players, how much the manager, who knows, but there does seem to be a reluctance on this board to give him fair credit and yes I get he is my namesake.

Ryan Giggs has said he is interested in the Leicester and Everton jobs. I doubt he'd get the job anyway, but he ought to be told that it is better to pursue only one job. No club likes to be considered in an either/or way.

He's a knob. What exactly gives him the right to go straight into PL management?

I laughed when my son text me the news and still feel smug that it all went wrong for him!

But at the same time I feel that only now we can start to remember him in a more positive way. When all is said and done, he did a stirling job while here and the fact that so many of us care enough to comment proves to me that we were hurt with him leaving as we wanted him to stay.

Plenty of people have left us in various twatty ways in the past but once they move on again or retire, you can start to appreciate them again.

How many of us older ones hated Alan Ball (the manager)when he left us for Man City, loving his squeaky little red face when they got relegated! I was gutted as he was my first good manager after the awful Branfoot after I got into Football properly!

However all was forgotten pretty much once he left City because he was a Saints and England legend. Ok ok Koeman is no Alan Ball to us but he was still good in the 2 seasons he was here. There are many others who left under a bit of a cloud who I'm sure we have since forgiven and like again.

It will happen to Lallana and Fonte, I have no doubt.

Agreed, it so annoyed me when Dwight Yorke complained about lack of opportunities but was not prepared to drop down the leagues but played the discrimination card instead. These guys need to go to a Bury or Stockport and earn their stripes
