When he jumped ship to you guys I remember Adam Blackmore saying he'd heard info along the lines of "Koeman never really wanting to go to Everton. It was more of a bluff game that backfired". I was slammed by yourself at the time (no hard feelings by the way, just stating) but if you genuinely believe he didn't care about Everton, then maybe Adam Blackmore was right all along.
There was loads of stuff about him balling off to Portugal when he was at Saints aswell. Must do exceptional mayo there.
Koeman joined Everton for 2 reasons, doubling his money and moving to a bigger club that put him closer to the job that he really wanted - Barca. Which he was still being linked with in the summer, I reckon the last 3 months have damaged his CV though.............
I do think managing The Netherlands would suit him. More time for golf. You'd think getting paid millions to do a high profile job in a sport that you love would mean you'd be around more to actually do your job.
Although we stopped Virgil and Ryan, players and managers will always come and go. Remarkable how many of the leavers can't handle it without the magic Saints dust. Failures: - Shaw, Morgan, Koeman, Lallana (to an extent), Lovren, Fonte, Pelle Success: - Clyne, Poch, Mane, wanyama.
He seemed happy enough at Saints and then got the hump over the summer....he took Everton as a small step up, whereas he should probably have waited for something bigger. Saints can make people look good and then they are found out at another club....Poch being a rare exception.
Could be the President of the United States. Seems that's all the present incumbent does. He's a fat snake as well. Perfect.
You missed Schneiderlin, Chambers and Lambert from failures and I would swap Clyne and Lallana over aswell.
Morgan is there, second one in on the failures. And yeah both lallana and Clyne are quite difficult. Neither have set the world alight but neither are lambasted by their own fans like Jose or Dejan.
I heard this from three separate sources (two of which national bbc) back at the time, as well as Blackmore. I can easily believe it.
