Because we are all adults on this forum and conduct our discussions in a mature way. Silly and childish name calling isn't part of that.
I normally want Boufal to pass off too, but at no point did he allow West Brom to slow his forward progress. Often he gets checked up, and from there things break down, but he had a run on them the entire length of the pitch. Credit also to the players who ran with him...Gabbiadini made an early run behind which prevented the WBA defenders from challenging Boufal, Austin (who had been very deep) busted a gut to make a run that sucked in both CBs and left Boufal 1v1, and the run also ensured that Redmond was open in a good spot should Boufal in a moment of madness have decided that the situation called for a Nathan Redmond finish. There's been a lot of (not unwarranted) talk about Austin's fitness, but that run was probably the difference between Boufal having to try to force a tricky pass through (or slamming a shot into a defender's legs), and being able to check back to his right and finish unmolested.
Austin also made a lightning charge from inside our half just after he came on, to try and close down a pass back to Ben Foster. I think he’s been working on his fitness!
Just watched it again. What a friggin goal. If a Man U/Chelsea/City player had scored it, it would have been all over the world press.
Just waiting for a smart arse to put Sophi goal with Benny hill music, esp when the 2 wba players take each other out
We win.......some still moan because we didn’t do it in style. We lose and we lost because we didn’t have style........we’re 9 games in whatever style we have is still forming under the new manager. You sometimes have to give him credit for changing things. Today we got it right.........so stop moaning and enjoy it..... even you godders!
You know how good a goal it is when your in town and some fitty cracks on to you... She asks what I've been upto tonight and I start by saying I watched the game but ended up giving a 10 minute rant about how good a goal Boufal scored... She soon lost interest Safe to say that I ****ed that up
If a ten-minute rant about Boufal's skills in space didn't get her hot and bothered, she wasn't right for you anyway.
Bit worried about the lack of game time for Ward-Prowse at the moment. He was really making a lot of progress last season and he is one of the few players we have who is potential captain material.
Honestly don't care that much about potential captain material. We need potentially-very-good-at-football material, and JWP still has yet to establish a skill or skills that can carry him at this level, beyond taking aesthetically-pleasing dead balls that rarely end in goals. He isn't old by any means, but he's old enough and with sufficient experience that he needs to earn his minutes from now on, and I'm not convinced that he has earned the right to start regularly.
Well that was much better. Even if Boufal’s shot had hit the post and we were complaining about how selfish he was, it was encouraging in other ways. There was far more forward movement. Lemina looks a great bit of business, although he twice lost possession which could have cost us. There were attempts to put Gabbi in when he made runs left side of the area but they weren’t good enough- stil, in previous games we made none. Far fewer backpasses. I was thinking to myself that we had stepped up the creativity but still lacked the quality and then Boufal goes and does that. A pleasure to have been there and witnessed. Right up there with Lallana’s goal vs Hull. Still not where we need to be, but there were shots and real chances. Even if this had finished goalless I would take some crumbs of comfort.
In case all the anti-Davo fans are worried that he's knocking on a bit and won't be around much longer.... I think JWP is his replacement in waiting
I don't think you can judge his fitness on 10 minutes. Someone earlier mentioned his two gut busting runs; he needs to be able to do them after 45-60 minutes of a game to say his fitness is good. I know.... he has to play to prove that, but last season before he was injured, he struggled either that. He is in a difficult position. He needs game time, but it isn't right he plays ahead of Gabbi, so his hope must be that he gets in ahead of Long.
