Same as last time really, yard are confident as they can be and he's in great form at home, but these are serious level sprinters (Harry Angel, Carvaggio, The Tin Man, Tasleet, even Quiet Reflection looked really well the other week) so it's going to be very tough. Librisa will have it's day in the sunshine soon though so at the odds it's always worth a bet. Me personally, Harry Angel could be a real superstar but given its poor course form, going to go with my head and say Carvaggio will win. Tin Man (12/1) is very over priced though, double the odds of Quiet Reflection is pretty ridiculous. As is Librisa. Probably go Tin Man, Librisa, Carvaggio all-ways tri-cast and single on Librisa, not massive though. Wish i'd got the nod on Villette the other day, only had £4 on as usually back Ivory's anyway when the price is double figures regardless of if i hear anything, was lovely going to the bookies thinking i was collecting £100 because of the dead-heat and then getting double because the 2nd had been DQ'ed Apart from that, keep missing out on acca's by one. The system i have developed is pretty much done now though and all systems go from November to April. Anyone that wants to follow the journey feel free to, going to make an article on it anyway next week. Good luck today lads. Don't really fancy much solely to be honest, everything's just tight, think O'Brien could easily have 4-5 winners or 0. Got to admit though i do think Lancaster Bomber is a ridiculous price at 80/1 in the 3 15, think it could easily get at least 3rd
Head says Order of St George Carvaggio Journey Churchill Barney Roy Zabeel Prince Heart says Torcedor Librisa Breeze Hydrangea Lancaster Bomber Barney Roy GM Hopkins (Will this thing ever win a race )
I will have everything crossed that CRACKSMAN can supply his sire with a first domestic G1 win this afternoon!
Nice here too Swanny, but still plenty of fallen trees around after that storm 2 weeks ago. Have a good one PS Agree with Ron on Filmon - only runs for 2 minutes then cuts out. I am now using a site called TVPlayer with Hola unblocker to watch ITV
I have been a naysayer about Champions’ Day ever since the concept was created. It is too late in the season and yet again the ground is soft. The ideal slot would have been back in September but the numpties at the BHA let the Irish have that weekend by moving the QEII back a month. I cannot recall reading Richard Fahey’s column when he was so bullish about one of his charges. Clearly RIBCHESTER is the best miler in training, the soft ground will not be an inconvenience and the only blip on his form book in the Sussex was the pilot’s fault. Harry Angel appears to be the best sprinter but at the odds at Ascot on soft ground there are enough reasons to keep wallets in pockets. It would be no surprise if The Tin Man repeats as he loves Ascot! I know that Cracksman has his fan club and the soft ground will make the Champion Stakes more of a stamina test, but just what has he beaten this year? He had it all his own way at York and Chantilly. Can Barney Roy capitalise with the soft ground stretching his stamina? One of the older horses may cause an upset here. What a shame that Ulysses is not running as he would be favourite. O’Brien might break Bobby Frankel’s record today but I would not touch Order Of St George at the odds and the race is a Group 2 so it won’t help Aidan win, lose or draw. He may equal Frankel’s 25 in the Fillies And Mares.
Off to see the mighty Bristol City v Leeds United today so will miss the racing. I think it's very tricky...if I was having a bet today I would back Battel 9/4 Ascot 2.40pm ...Been performing well all season and goes well in soft ground.
My goodness, what a start to Ascot. Terrific race and brave runs by first two home. Looks like Oddy could well be right with an Aidan O'Brien field day!
Wow Moore just wow, always amazing but surpassed himself there. Order of St George was never going or travelling well and Moore just kept plugging and plugging away, exquisite
Good afternoon peeps - great ride from Moore in the first on what is clearly a horse with his own ideas! Opposing HA next with Caravaggio - probably foolishness, but that wouldn't be the first time This IS a cracking days racing, despite the knockers arguing against the term "champions", but just enjoy it as a meeting of top class animals - we see more than enough of grade 4. 5 & 6's and a plethora of sand rats to outweigh the good stuff
Catch your breath, what a start! Nice one for Dean Ivory and a great performance from Librisa Breeze. Order of St George - just wow. Great stuff.
Booooooooommmm ...., for the breeze .... the ground killed the true sprinters and finally Winston rode the right race ....well done to all !!!
