    Still?

It would be a bit sad if, when we come out of the EU (assuming we do), what we get is what nobody wanted. May would go down in history as "The prime minister who ......................" Answers on a postcard

No, Oddy. I said "IF" (ie if even they didn't like what they got). It would be sad.

Horrible stuff going on with the wild fires in the USA, Portugal and Spain. Lots of lives lost as well as thousands of homes and other buildings. Terrible times.

Terrible isn't it. And, with the weird phenomenon occurring in the skies the last couple of days, you can understand why some people were thinking the worst. Have you seen the pictures/videos of the skies and sun in Britain, apparently caused by Ophelia?

The other day everywhere around here was affected too. Darkness fell at around noon prompting loads of FB messages and photos. It was weird. God knows what the reaction would have been if this had happened on September 23rd

Ophelia picked up dust from the Sahara desert and Portuguese wild-fires as she passed by in the Atlantic

That nutter that was predicting the collision with Planet X on 23rd September subsequently said that he had got his calculations wrong when it did not happen. I think that they are on strike on Nibiru demanding better pay and conditions before rescheduling the collision. This is especially annoying for those of us that went out on 23rd September and had a skinful of beer because we would not be waking up on 24th September. Instead we woke up and exclaimed, ‘Jesus Christ!’

........and you don't need a PhD in Business & Economics (what an utter bore these people must be?) to know that Europeans are basically spud eaters, and eat rice mostly the odd time they have a curry? I don't include arrivals from other continents over the past 50-years, of course? Erm, have we ever finally established what continent the UK is in?

Yes, that's what I thought and what I was taught at school, but this bloody forum had me wondering if all my marbles were still in place. Guess I needed reassurance from an Australian! Thank you! <laugh>

Am no rice expert, Ron, and realise I am being pedantic, but isn't "Pilau Rice" the way a rice is cooked, e,g. (in Indian cooking) rice cooked in stock with spices, eaten as an accompaniment to a meat or vegetable dish? I like everyday Basmati long-grain rice with my curries, but I guess my wife cooks it the 'pilau' way, heck I don't know. I also used to love Thai sticky rice which is usually served with mangoes during the latter's short season in Thailand. My Thai friends knew how much I liked this dish, and would bring me plates of it to the office until I thought I would burst! <laugh> I was lucky the mango season was a short one!

While on the subject, the best rice I have ever tasted in my life has to be at our 'Indian', just a 15-minute walk from where we live. It is so light, so fluffy, (short-grain, I would say), you'd think it might float away. The owner and his junior partner in the business, now quite good friends of ours, just will not tell us the name of it and how they cook it. "It is a secret, and we have never told anybody", the boss would say smiling whenever we quizzed him. It's just a bit of fun we have with them, but my goodness it is a really delicious rice, which we nearly always eat with Chicken Tikka Masala.

Yes, Ron, EUROPE it is, and what I was taught. Cyc was just being exact in case the location of the UK was unfamiliar with some people? <whistle>

It's the Western part of Europe, just as Western Australia is the Western part of Australia.

    I think. <laugh>

Yes Swanny. I don't know what rice is used but it's what I always order with a chicken curry. I know nothing; just order it and eat it. I don't like the white rice with meals or rice pudding. Love Ambrosia though
