    Punchestown 5:20

ARCH DANCER; 15 length winner of a Liscarroll point to point. Dam only a maiden but half brother to a fair winning chaser. Small yard can have one ready but likely to be seen to better effect when going jumping.

    CANYON D’AHAUT
; First racing foal of an unraced dam from a yard not known for bumper winners.

    QUICK GETAWAY
; Dam a modest hurdle winner. Yards first bumper runner and easily dismissed.

DENT DE LION; Dam unraced but this Voix Du Nord gelding is a half brother to three useful winning jumpers including Impek and Olympian. The pick on pedigree but overlooked due to the yards modest record in this sphere.

ENDLESS REFRAIN; Dam a bumper winner and small yard capable of having one ready.

FELIX DESJY; 15 length winner of a Dromahane point. Dam unraced and two maiden half brothers have done little for the pedigree. In good hands however and no surprise to see him favourite.

GOLD SPEED; Fell first in his point. Dam the winner of one handicap chase. Looks up against it in this company.

ITSCATRIONASCHOICE; Dam a three time winner on the level and half brother is a bumper winner so lots to like on pedigree. Yard 1/16 in bumpers in last 5 years but the booking of Patrick Mullins most definitely catches the eye.

SAM CHISOLM; Dam a runner up in a point to point but this Getaway gelding must look the part as he fetched 85,000EU at the sales. Yard strong in this sphere and a likely contender.

SCORPION KNIGHT; Dam a maiden and readily dismissed.

TIPP TOE; Beaten a long way in his point to point but is a half brother to three winners including the fairly useful Heathfield. Dam unraced. Fetched 45,000EU at the sales and the solid connections have the services of the top bumper rider. Surprising if this one does not figure.

VAL MOME; Dam pulled up on only start and half brother is a once raced maiden so easily overlooked.

Conclusion; The favourite is way too short but it is not easy to find the one to oppose it with as the nicer pedigrees come from horses representing the less fancy yards. Obviously I hope DENT DE LION runs a huge race but my tentative each way selection would be for ITSCATRIONASCHOICE at 14/1. Patrick Mullins would have been courted to ride a few of these so it is interesting to see him on this one.

Fantastic stuff stickler. I would add gold speed might be worth a look ew at 40s with Dereck choosing that over another one he was offered!
Cracking summary. One things for sure is the owners of Dent De Lion will be consuming a good few Guinesses and if it wins won’t be coming home! Even if he runs a nice race that’s a possibility!

Have a great craic Don, hope your fella runs a blinder and JP approaches with cheque book and zero's! Seems ages since you bought him back from France and very exciting now to actually get him to the track.
I have an appointment with my knee surgeon at 4:30 (again) so I hope he is not running late!

Stick was being tactful as he always is Ron.

Fingers crossed but the ground and forecast now makes him unlikely to run. Hopefully it misses.....he’s small but a little machine. Tomorrow will be too much and he will be green as grass but better to learn from the big boys!

Has anyone seen the bumpy-bumper ‘ooooooooooooooooooooooooop’ at Carlisle (5.20). Looks very ordinary at first glance but 2 of the best racemares, over hurdles, in recent terms both have runners – Lady Rebecca and Whiteoak.

Indeed. Maybe it will take the sight of timber before the family genes kick in.

Geez I don't know what's going on with this bumper of yours Stick. I've been keeping an eye on Oddschecker for about 4 hours now and the constant "blue" for Arch Dancer has been amazing. At the moment it's all blue. When I first looked, there was as much as 9-1 about the horse, now the best on offer is 11-2, but just about all of it is 4-1 to 5-1. The only other horse that looked "blue" for must of the day was Tipp Toe. Felix Desjy is very short, but has been "pink" just about all day. It's only eased maybe quarterof a point at the most though. Sam Chisolm and Canyon Dahaut are blowing faster than ten dollar hookers. And a bit of specking for Gold Speed at juicy odds.

Nothing wrong - horse was shaking with fear and held his breath, nearly suffocated himself. Let out a huge huge breath. He was blowing for 25 mins after the 7 furlongs he ran. Never seen anything like it and we were worried at one point but he’s fine now bless him. Needs a good few schooling race to learn his job and he’ll be grand:...:

That winner looks one of the best bumper winners we've seen yet this, albeit, very early stage of the jumps season. Fair horse to pick up for 'only' 29k. Seen a lot worse go for many times that!

A good day out in general for the Gigginstown crew with 4 winners including the 2 graded races. Maybe O'Leary will put his winnings towards a few extra pilots.

No telling how much O'Leary paid for him Beefy. It was Mags O'Toole who picked him up for 29k and then he went and hosed up in p2p. Sold privately I am guessing to the cockpit king but I wouldnt think for anything less than 200K in used 5EU notes!
Another stab in the dark but I reckon he has an even better one to unleash yet, look out for INVINCIBLE CAVE.
