Disappointed Wales didn't make it to the finals after losing to the Irish last night. I was wanting the great journey we have been on over the last few years to continue.

But it's a new day and our interest in the World Cup is not over as we have our very own Aaron Gunnerson on the big stage. Well done Gunner - great skipper

Really looking forward to the Iceland v England rematch :emoticon-0170-ninja

To the mong who waves the Icelandic flag at English supporters in you ikea stadium in your cultural desert of a capital, I am pleased for you as your team qualified for the World Cup finals rather than any one man band of a national team

Coleman has done a fantastic job, all the players are working hard and we have a semi final in the euros on the CV. Too many draws have cost us this time and to lose last night to the 2nd worst team in the group is sickening. Onwards and up and lets push along to the next euro qualifiers. Cymru am byth! :emoticon-0152-heart

wherever takes a bit of working out. I think he was having a punt at us and our preference for Iceland. But he certainly has some issues to work through. And I guess he will never get there, bless him.

Its a sad day but at least the Red Wall won't have to face those maniacs in their own back yard.

And talking of being sad at least we can now partly understand how wherever felt when Jimmy Saville died

Don't think Gunnar will be ours after the WC, his contract is up isn't it?
    Great achievement by Iceland.

Abers point about Russia is the only silver lining for me. I really didn't want to go to Russia, they have massive issues regarding crowd behaviour and the police/state are as corrupt as it gets. I can well imagine any issues being spun as English/UK hooligans causing trouble rather than the shame of it being their own causing all the trouble when the biggest show on earth arrives.
It would have murdered me not to travel for our first appearance in my lifetime but I honestly don't think I could enjoy a trip there.

Like BT I agree we're better off at the top of tier 2 than scrapping into tier 1. Much better chance of winning our group and going into the qualifying playoff that way <ok>

The way I read it (and it's not the clearest tbh) Each league (a & b) will be split into 4 groups of 3. Those teams play in mini leagues to have 4 group winners. The winners play single leg playoffs to find an overall league winner that qualifies for Euro 2020. League A has some sort of winner of the competition that I didn't really bother looking at. There's promotion and relegation (4 slots per league). But if I read it properly each league has it's own place in Euro 2020 without the need to beat sides from outside the league. Even league's 3 and 4, those teams will surely believe that the new competition is a much better chance of qualification that the traditional qualifying format. Especially teams in league 4.

Soooooo...... If that interpretation is correct. A team ranked 14 in the world would be one of the favourites for the league b slot.

It was a Friday afternoon when I tried to take this all in and it's hardly clear even on Uefa's site.

Commonly described as a Bugger's Muddle. But would you expect anything less from UEFA?

Little more than another money making exercise for them.
